Magma Design Automation Integrates and Cleanses Data Across Systems with Force.com AppExchange Tools
Magma Design Automation develops software for electronic design automation (EDA), enabling
integrated circuit designers to meet critical time-to-market objectives, improve chip performance,
and handle multimillion-gate designs.
A Salesforce customer, Magma uses a variety of tools from the Force.com AppExchange. When the
company wants to extend Salesforce beyond CRM, or automate more of its own processes, Donald Dy,
principal applications engineer, visits the AppExchange. After test driving applications, Dy can
roll them out to his company’s 850 Salesforce users with just a few clicks.
Tools from the AppExchange marketplace help Magma integrate with SAP, streamline quotes and
proposals, and manage projects and marketing activities. The company also saves time and improves
efficiency by automating routine but time-consuming tasks.

Using Cast Iron’s “configuration, not coding” approach, Magma was able to get up and running quickly. Now the company can easily link its backoffice SAP data to data residing in Salesforce for greater visibility and efficiency.
With Nsite by Business Objects, available on the AppExchange, the entire quoting cycle including creation, configuration, pricing, approval workflow, proposal generation, and analysis is supported.
Using Nsite and Salesforce, Magma can automatically generate quote proposals linked to its most up-to-date price book in Salesforce. Using the application has resulted in tremendous time savings for Magma reps.
Dy found Enhanced Merge Accounts on the AppExchange. Built by two Salesforce customers and available for free, the app allows users to merge accounts directly from the account detail page. “ It’s smaller in comparison to other things we’ve downloaded, but it has been a big help,” says Dy.
With assistance from Enhanced Merge Accounts, a team of three sales ops managers can now clean data for over 50 field sales reps in a matter of minutes.
The Mass Update Contact Address application, available for free from Salesforce Labs, is an easy-to-install link that allows a salesperson or administrator to quickly update the address fields on contact records to match the account address.
With Mass Update Contact Address, a process that was once manual and tedious takes Magma sales reps a fraction of the time and is less prone to error.
