Filtering your feed to find relevant posts helps you get the most value out of Chatter. Filter posts by groups, people you follow, accounts, opportunities, and more to reduce noise and easily find what matters most to you.
Get smart, automatic suggestions for colleagues to follow and groups to join. Chatter recommends people based on criteria such as common connections, number of followers, and management hierarchy. Similarly, groups are recommended based on popularity and relevance.
Search across updates, files, feeds, profiles, and comments. Keyword search results include full Chatter posts and comments from your feeds. Chatter search is part of a new global search, that returns results across all Salesforce records, including Chatter.
You can associate your updates with other posts and comments on the same topic by using a hashtag (#). Hashtags create topic links that categorize updates so people can find related information more easily.
Upload and share files with your entire company via Chatter. The new Chatter files tab helps you keep track of the files you’re shared and the ones you’re following. When new versions are uploaded, you’ll get an update in your feed so your most important documents, presentations, and media files are always up to date.
Create reports and dashboards on Chatter users and their followers, feeds, comments, groups, members, and group comments. See who’s contributing, which users and groups are using Chatter, and how they’re using it, so you can uncover best practices and drive adoption.
Chatter sends email updates about your feed to help you stay in touch. You can choose the frequency and scope of the notifications, such as whether or not you receive an email when a colleague follows you, posts on your profile or to a group you’re in, or makes a comment on your update.
Keep up with Chatter even when you’re not logged in. You can get a daily or weekly Chatter email digest of posts from your feed or feeds from groups.
Follow dashboards and get updates right in your feed. Stay tuned to discussions around dashboard data and collaborate with colleagues to speed up and improve decision making.

Post updates, comments, files, and links without using your browser. You can even filter your feed by groups. Chatter Desktop displays pop-up alerts at the bottom of your screen so you’re instantly notified of important updates.
