World's largest fleet alliance examined all major CRM offerings from Siebel and PeopleSoft to ACT and Goldmine
US partner Wheels, Inc., oldest vehicle leasing company in the world, implements salesforce.com
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - March 12, 2003 - Salesforce.com®, the market leader in online customer relationship management (CRM), today announced Fleet Synergy International, the world's largest fleet management alliance, has implemented salesforce.com to track sales leads and customer opportunities with 25 partners across 35 countries including the US. After examining major CRM offerings from Siebel [NASDAQ: SEBL] and PeopleSoft [NASDAQ: PSFT], Fleet Synergy replaced its previous IBM [NYSE: IBM] Lotus Notes system with salesforce.com for secure, anytime access to customer information from any browser without dial-up, server and software support and maintenance costs. In the United States, Fleet Synergy partner Wheels, Inc., the oldest vehicle-leasing management company in the world, is already seeing benefit from using salesforce.com to track customer information pertaining to its fleet of almost a quarter of million vehicles.
"Our customers are increasingly multinational so it is important that we can share leads, opportunities and customer information globally," said Peter Egan, vice president of international sales at Wheels, Inc. "With salesforce.com, we can exchange real-time information across 35 countries to present a unified face to global customers and take full advantage of the power of local and shared knowledge to win deals and boost customer service."
Founded in 1939, Wheels is ranked as one of the largest private companies by Forbes Magazine with over $1.5 billion in sales. As one of the partners who helps govern and control Fleet Synergy via its International Board, Wheels was intimately involved with the search for a new CRM solution to replace an incumbent IBM Lotus Notes system. Fleet Synergy considered conventional client/server systems before electing to implement salesforce.com's online solution. With salesforce.com, Fleet Synergy has greater transparency across global operations and can more easily identify the most productive sectors and countries. The alliance also reports significant cost savings and improved international coordination and reporting with the online CRM solution.
"In our hunt for the right CRM system, we considered software packages from Siebel and PeopleSoft, among other vendors," said Hans Damen, regional sales and marketing director, Fleet Synergy International. "We ultimately selected salesforce.com because of ease of use, speed of implementation and low cost compared to other offerings."
"Salesforce.com is a great choice for companies like Fleet Synergy who need to link international operations without the cost and risk of conventional global implementation," said Marc Benioff, CEO and chairman of salesforce.com. "It is one of the reasons that we keep adding customers at a rate greater than any of the other CRM vendors out there."
Driven by frustration with the costs and limitations of client/server software, companies are switching to salesforce.com. Divisions and workgroups within large companies are implementing salesforce.com despite corporate mandates to use legacy CRM software. Given quick success with salesforce.com, usage is growing virally - to more than 6,000 salesforce.com customers and 80,000 users worldwide - as executives switch from enterprise software to online CRM success.
