Empowernet began using Salesforce CRM in April 2007. After speaking with salesforce.com consulting partner Myriad Minds earlier this year, Owen Armstrong, Empowernet’s Chief Financial Officer, realised that Force.com offered the building blocks necessary to build any kind of business app, simple or sophisticated, and automatically deploy them as a service.

“Initially, we needed a CRM system that could expand with us – in terms of users, events and services, locations, and the fit with our business processes,” said Mr Armstrong. “Salesforce ticked all the boxes. Now, as we have moved to extract more benefit from the Force.com
Platform, it’s provided a range of integrated functionality and has proven to be a great example of how cloud computing benefits the enterprise.”

The Force.com Platform offered an immediate way forward for the business. “The ability to access systems anywhere and at any time, via the Internet, is a huge advantage; as is the fact that you don’t need to invest in costly infrastructure,” he said.

Empowernet’s Force.com project was delivered by Myriad Minds in just three months. Development coincided with the Salesforce Summer ‘08 release, which introduced major new features such as cross-object formulas and Visualforce. Visualforce enabled Myriad Minds to create an entirely new user interface for Empowerrnet’s users, tailored to their specific needs and run entirely in the cloud. Moreover, salesforce.com’s well-established web service API allowed seamless integration between all of Empowernet’s key systems.
