Salesforce Foundation Celebrates 1 Million Volunteer Hour Milestone by Giving $1 Million in Grants to Education Nonprofits Worldwide

Salesforce Employees to Participate in Salesforce’s Global Volunteer Week from July 13-17

SAN FRANCISCO—July 13, 2015—The Salesforce Foundation, a leader in corporate philanthropy, today announced it will grant $1 million to education nonprofits around the world to celebrate Salesforce employees volunteering 1 million hours. As part of the celebration, Salesforce employees around the world will spend the week of July 13 giving back to their communities during Salesforce’s Global Volunteer Week.

Salesforce Foundation Grants $1 Million to Education Nonprofits Worldwide
To celebrate reaching the 1 million volunteer hour milestone, the Salesforce Foundation will award ten $100,000 grants to nonprofits selected by Salesforce employees around the world:
● Adelgundenheim, an organization in Munich that works to support and encourage young people in their emotional, social, cognitive, motor and creative development.
● AIME, a structured educational program operating around Australia that supports Indigenous students through high school. Students completing the program are proven to finish school and transition through to university at the same rate as every Australian child—effectively closing the gap in educational outcomes.
● The Boys and Girls Club of Indianapolis, which enables all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.
● Citywise Education, a nonprofit organization based in Dublin that provides young people with after-school and out-of-school educational support, often urgently needed by those growing up in difficult or hostile city environments.
● DonorsChoose.org, an online charity that makes it easy for anyone to help students in need. Public school teachers from every corner of America post classroom project requests on DonorsChoose.org, and individuals can give any amount to projects that inspire them.
● Inspire!, an organization in London working with schools, businesses, families and the community to inspire, support and open doors for young people from Hackney and neighboring boroughs.
● Multicultural Center Tokyo, a nonprofit organization in Tokyo which provides educational support to immigrant children, with a special focus on helping youths access high school in Japan.
● Project Sunshine, a New York City-based, international nonprofit organization that provides free educational, recreational and social programs to children facing medical challenges and their families.
● The Teen Resource Centre, a nonprofit in Saint John, New Brunswick, that provides a safe and encouraging environment for youth to explore their full potential.

Salesforce’s Global Volunteer Week
Over the past 16 years, Salesforce employees have dedicated their time to serving communities around the world—volunteering 1 million hours in more than 72 countries through more than 11,000 nonprofits. Giving back at Salesforce is a vital part of the company culture and has set an example for dozens of leading companies around the world that have also pledged to adopt the 1-1-1 model.

To further commemorate reaching the 1 million hours milestone, Salesforce’s 16,000+ employees will spend the week of July 13 volunteering in communities around the world. Each Salesforce employee is encouraged to log at least one hour of volunteering. As a part of the 1-1-1 model of integrated philanthropy, Salesforce employees are granted six paid days off per year to spend volunteering.
