A Salesforce Podcast Host and Producer Recalls Her First Episodes

Hear from an intrepid producer on what it was like to produce, record, and launch a Salesforce podcast for the first time.

We’re posting a series of vignettes to celebrate Salesforce’s 20th birthday. Follow our digital scrapbook to get a behind the scenes glimpse of our history.

In September 2015, I produced, recorded, and launched a Salesforce podcast for the first time. I didn’t have podcasting experience, but as a content marketer and avid consumer of audio storytelling, I wanted to test the format to discuss marketing trends, obstacles, and stories.

Fast forward three and a half years, 100+ episodes, and a few host changes, and the Marketing Cloudcast is still going strong. I love that the Cloudcast continues to inspire marketers! The show’s beginnings were humble.

How humble? Well, I used to record in my closet. Or beneath a thick blanket.

This photo hints at a comfortable, tidy podcasting studio. In reality, my abode’s hard floors echo. So I initially relied on my closet or a blanket to reduce reverb.

In later months and years, I got a better microphone — and extra help for audio editing and graphics creation. At the onset, though, the podcast was a two-person endeavor with my co-host Joel Book. The logistics of starting a podcast are no joke, but great interviews are worth it.

We even won two Content Marketing Awards. Here’s one of my favorite episodes on the science behind sharing content online.

In the 100+ interviews with marketers I conducted, I learned a lot. Now I enjoy listening to the new hosts, Megan Collins and Tina Rozul, talk about the latest marketing trends. Thanks, Cloudcast (and closet), for the memories.
