We are looking for highly talented people to contribute to salesforce.com’s continued success. As the Sales Strategy Development Senior Manager you will be responsible for helping the high-impact Sales Strategy group identify new opportunities and develop the business plans that will enable salesforce.com to grow to a $5B company.

The team acts as the strategic planning arm of the sales organization. We have a mixture of former management consultants and technology veterans.

The person in this role will help to develop our sales strategy. The right individual will apply his/her experience to influence the strategic direction and execution of our sales organization. He/She will lead strategic initiatives, evaluate business opportunities, research new markets, build financial models, and craft concise, data-driven recommendations for an executive audience. Long-term focus is critical. Candidates must have an appreciation for the challenges of strategy development, organizational change, and cross-functional execution.

The focus of this work will be on market penetration – improving our coverage model, developing product-specific sales strategies, market entry & segmentation and general business planning.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide insightful recommendations. Be hypothesis-driven
  • Proactively identify, develop and drive longer-term strategies and initiatives that will drive rapid growth & superior execution.
  • Act as an advisor to Sales executive leadership team in development of business plans and investment proposals. Support on-going execution of the plans as needed
  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses (e.g., market and competitor assessments, internal performance analysis, consumer insight research, and macro-economic trends), lead and partner with cross-functional business partners as necessary
  • Synthesize findings, storyboard & craft presentations, and communicate recommendations to senior management
  • Specific projects might relate to emerging industry trends, expansion opportunities, and internal business performance improvement, and coverage optimization
  • Perform thorough analysis to support any recommendation you make, working with existing analytical resources on the Sales Strategy team and doing a fair amount of heavy lifting yourself


Required Skills/Experience:
  • BA/BS with a strong academic record and MBA from top-tier university required
  • At least two years experience post-MBA strongly preferred
  • Prior management consulting experience preferred; highly pertinent experience in technology may be an adequate substitute
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, constantly evolving team environment
  • Exceptional problem solving and analytical skills; demonstrated ability to structure complex problems, develop hypotheses and present well-supported solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically, turn information into effective strategies and drive results
  • Strong oral, written and formal presentation skills with demonstrated ability to communicate complex ideas in a simple way and proven track record with senior management communications
  • Highly collaborative with strong interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently and with teams interchangeably
  • Familiarity with marketing and sales of enterprise software is a big plus
