This is a newly created position and the candidate will be a key member of the Corporate Controller’s management team. This is an individual contributor role.
This position is designed to augment existing resources in the external reporting function and to increase the Controller’s oversight and timely identification of issues, and evaluation and documentation of accounting conclusions. The candidate must have direct experience with SEC and US GAAP technical accounting and disclosure requirements, and must be able to interact with senior management and senior members of the Company’s external audit firm. The candidate will also supplement existing resources in the Company’s preparation of quarterly external financial reports.
The ideal candidate will be a “quick study;” have excellent interpersonal skills; ability to describe complex technical accounting concepts in simple easy to understand terms; ability to identify, evaluate, debate and document complex technical and operational accounting issues; ability to build strong relationships and trust with others and be viewed as a strong “go to” leader; and the ability to present to an audience.
The candidate will also be a liaison among members of the CFO’s global finance and operations organization, and will be involved in several initiatives to optimize and enhance the Company’s financial reporting and infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
- Experience with complex accounting areas (e.g., revenue recognition, cost deferrals, capitalize vs. expense, expense recognition, foreign currency translation, consolidation, employee incentives including stock options, goodwill/intangibles, and business combination accounting)
Demonstrated ability to stay current with emerging financial accounting rules and trends that impact accounting and financial reporting. Ensure that senior management is aware of these emerging financial accounting rules and trends
Drive the implementation of new accounting rules with internal accounting and financial systems teams
Demonstrated ability to model the financial statement impact the new accounting rules will have
Provide technical accounting analysis and documented conclusions around accounting positions. Drive conclusion of accounting treatments with internal teams and external auditors
Research technical matters on an ongoing basis and form relationships with professional organizations, similar companies and external advisors to form a network of idea sharing and generation
- Establish major financial accounting policies for the company to ensure the consistent application of policies and procedures which strengthen the company’s internal controls. Train internal teams on the application of new and modified policies
- Subject matter expert with the regional and local controllers and internal teams in driving standardization in accounting practices
- Experience with varied financial reporting, accounting, business practices and internal controls
- Assist in the development of internal control remediation plans when needed and assist management and internal teams with the remediation activities
- Experience with Sarbanes-Oxley compliance including design of internal controls, evaluation, testing and remediation
- Assist with process redesign efforts focused on ensuring global standards and practices and automating manual processes
- Assist in the testing and validation of new financial systems and process changes
- Support the international controller by overseeing and directing the coordination, preparation, and review of statutory financial filings
- Assist in the coordination of all internal and external audits including the resolution of open comments and findings
Required Skills/Experience:
- Only those candidates who have held a manager level finance position at a company with annual revenues of over $250 million will be considered
- Candidate must have direct and recent experience with SEC and US GAAP technical accounting and disclosure requirements
- Solid understanding and experience with Sarbanes-Oxley. This includes the ability to consider the relationship of the regulatory environment and the organization in recommending and applying the appropriate business requirements
- Over seven years of financial experience
- Big 4 experience and CPA required
- Experience with the Technology industry preferred
- Ability to work in a dynamic and growth environment
- Bachelor’s degree at minimum

- Able to quickly grasp company operations and business drivers
- Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to articulate verbally and written, debate, evaluate and document complex technical accounting issues, ability to think quickly and present to an audience
