The search team at Salesforce.com is seeking talented engineers with proven ability to do original and high quality work in the field of information retrieval. As a member of our technical staff, you will help develop the next generation of information retrieval at Salesforce.com, making the real-world, multi-tenant, hosted platform and its application easier to use and more effective for its users.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, evaluate and implement algorithms and product features for information retrieval
  • Create research and tuning tools, and carry out experiments to verify and tune new algorithms and features
  • Work closely with product management, user experience experts, and quality engineering to design and deliver product features


Required Skills/Experience:
  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Computer Science with a focus on information retrieval
  • 5+ years software product development experience in Java
  • Strong software engineering skills
  • Algorithm design and analysis
  • Ability to learn and adapt quickly in a dynamic environment
  • Excellent communication skills


Desired Skills:
  • 8+ years of design / development experience in Java
  • Strong understanding of database design and SQL development
  • Experience with information retrieval in the context of customer support or enterprise search
  • Experience with information retrieval over multi-lingual corpora
  • Experience building high-performance large-scale systems
  • Experience with tuning information retrieval systems
  • Experience building user interfaces for information retrieval
