Market leader in Online Customer Relationship Management Hires Enterprise Veteran to Lead Expansion into Japanese Marketplace
SAN FRANCISCO, CA and TOKYO, JAPAN— April 8, 2002 — Salesforce.com, the market leader in online customer relationship management (CRM), today announced that former Oracle (NASDAQ:ORCL) executive Akira Kitamura has joined the company as president of salesforce.com Japan. Kitamura is responsible for salesforce.com's operations based in Tokyo, Japan where the company currently has over 200 customers. He reports to Marc Benioff, chairman, president, and CEO of salesforce.com.
Kitamura has over 25 years of experience in the technology industry. Prior to joining salesforce.com, Kitamura served as the CEO of Centura Software, the largest provider of Siebel (NASDAQ:SEBL) consulting in Japan. Kitamura has extensive experience in marketing and sales to large enterprise accounts, as well as with Japanese channels and partners. He also held senior management positions at Oracle Corporation (NASDAQ: ORCL) and IBM (NYSE: IBM). Kitamura began his career at Hitachi's (NYSE: HIT) Computer Division as a systems engineer.
