Salesforce.com Named to 2004 InfoWorld 100 for IT Innovation and Resourcefulness
Salesforce.com recognized with sforce partner ShareMethods for providing online access to a comprehensive solution catalog in its new On-Demand Marketplace
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. — November 30, 2004 — Salesforce.com (NYSE: CRM), the market and technology leader in on-demand customer relationship management (CRM), today announced that it has been named to the 2004 InfoWorld 100. Salesforce.com received the prestigious annual award, which recognizes top IT projects for resourcefulness and innovation, for its work with sforce partner ShareMethods, an on-demand sales and marketing document management and collaboration service.
Salesforce.com and ShareMethods partnered to successfully manage and publish partner content on more than 70 product and service solutions available through the salesforce.com On-Demand Marketplace (http://www.salesforce.com /marketplace), a comprehensive catalog that provides immediate access to a broad range of proven on-demand solutions. The Marketplace is powered by sforce, salesforce.com's on-demand integration platform, and features an interactive ratings system with built-in user reviews, showcase solutions with screenshots, and a wide range of solution categories to address business requirements including data warehousing, contact center, email marketing, ERP, integration, social networking and more.
The InfoWorld editorial team selects the InfoWorld 100 for companies' innovative use of multiple technologies in the service of well-defined business goals. The 2004 winners, which encompass a full range of industries, include BestBuy [NYSE: BBY], BP [NYSE: BP], Continental Airlines [NYSE: CAL], FedEx [NYSE: FDX], GlaxoSmithKline [NYSE: GSK], Johnson & Johnson [NYSE: JNJ], UPS [NYSE: UPS], United States Post Office and Wells Fargo [NYSE: WFC].
"To enter the winner's circle, an InfoWorld 100 project must stretch beyond the typical, off-the-shelf solution," said Eric Knorr, executive editor at large, InfoWorld. "Salesforce.com and ShareMethods impressed us with a successful online content management solution that makes salesforce.com's On-Demand Marketplace the most comprehensive and interesting catalog of on-demand solutions available to CRM customers. The project is also a great proof point for the value of integrated partner solutions for any of salesforce.com's 12,500 customers."
The rapid growth of the sforce community required salesforce.com to efficiently manage and share the wide array of partner content and corporate data presented through the Marketplace, as well as provide one centralized platform for customer data. Using the sforce platform, salesforce.com and ShareMethod's on-demand sales and marketing document management and collaboration service were integrated with a customized Web publishing workflow.
Partners now can upload materials themselves through a customized Web form at salesforce.com. This process ensures that partner content is always up-to-date and accurate and also decreases administrative time for salesforce.com. Once materials and information are captured, a web publishing workflow automates document approval, version tracking and posting. The entire solution is built into a graphically attractive and visually rich wizard that makes it extremely easy for partners to upload documents and key information.
The 2004 Infoworld 100 award adds to an impressive list of industry accolades earned by salesforce.com. Salesforce.com has won the PC Magazine Editor's Choice award and the Codie Award for Best CRM Solution for the past three years and was a recipient of the Gartner CRM Excellence Awards in 2003. Aberdeen Group honored salesforce.com with three consecutive Top 10 CRM Implementation awards from 2001-2003. InfoWorld previously named salesforce.com a 2004 Technology of the Year, as well as Best Hosted Application. Most recently, CRM Magazine named salesforce.com a market leader across enterprise, mid-market and small business CRM.
"Sforce is fueling a new wave of on-demand solutions and customer success," said Patricia Sueltz, president of technology, marketing, and systems, salesforce.com.
