The HoneyBaked Ham Company of Georgia Extended Their Recipe for Success with Salesforce.com CRM
Salesforce SFA and Marketing helped better integrate users in The HoneyBaked Ham Company of Georgia's 120 stores nationwide
SAN FRANCISCO — December 20, 2006 — Salesforce.com [NYSE: CRM], the market and technology leader in on-demand business services, today announced that The HoneyBaked Ham Company of Georgia has successfully deployed Salesforce SFA, Salesforce Marketing and downloaded applications from the AppExchange directory for 120 of their locations nationwide. Applications available via the AppExchange directory are built using Apex, the world's first on-demand platform. By deploying their Salesforce solution, HoneyBaked Ham was able to circumvent many of the challenges and complexities associated with having a dispersed sales team in a retail environment. SFA enabled HoneyBaked Ham to consolidate customer data and achieve instant user adoption by making it easy for sales and marketing users to gain visibility into customer and lead information.
The HoneyBaked Ham Company is one of the 27,100 companies of all sizes, industries and geographies that comprised the salesforce.com customer base as of October 31, 2006. Revenue and subscribers will be recognized as the service is delivered.
"We had tried ACT! and Excel to manage our sales activities, but needed a more flexible solution that gave our dispersed sales team easier access to data and resources. User-friendliness was very important," said Matt Troy, Director of Gifting at The HoneyBaked Ham Company. "The on-demand Salesforce model was perfect for our needs. We were able to quickly implement the functionality we wanted and our staff was trained and successfully using Salesforce in just a matter of days."
Looking to add additional functionality to its Salesforce deployment, The HoneyBaked Ham Company turned to the Apex platform and AppExchange directory. The company downloaded multiple applications from the AppExchange directory, including:
- User Adoption Dashboard — AppExchange application from Arrowpointe Corporation analyzes data activity that has taken place over the past 60 days; dashboard components exist for each major type of data, and provide information about who has and has not logged in over the past seven days
- Opportunity Pop-up Calendar — salesforce.com AppExchange application makes a pop-up calculator accessible from the Opportunity detail page so users can easily update opportunity amounts
- Account Weather Information — salesforce.com AppExchange application displays weather information for the city and state where the offices of a specific account are located
The HoneyBaked Ham Company further customized their Salesforce home page by creating an "Ask Sylvia" link that allows users to create a case which is automatically assigned to the system administrator. Not only has this solution delivered faster service, but also helps The HoneyBaked Ham Company gain and track Salesforce user issues, feedback and requests and make sure that the system administrator is not overwhelmed.

About The HoneyBaked Ham Company
Over 50 years ago, Harry J. Hoenselaar began a special tradition when he opened his first HoneyBaked Ham Company store in Michigan. He'd select the finest quality bone-in ham. Cure it in his secret marinade, and then for tenderness, he'd smoke the ham for hours over a unique blend of hardwood chips.
The crowning touch was Harry's crunchy sweet glaze that crackled with good taste. He even found a way to slice the ham into perfectly even slices. He invented and patented a unique machine that slices a ham in a single, continuous spiral. The rest is history.
Three generations and over 400 stores later, the Hoenselaar family still prepares The HoneyBaked Ham the same way that Harry did... one ham at a time. The children and grandchildren of the Hoenselaar family are committed to carrying on the wonderful tradition and legacy of Harry J. Hoenselaar.
