Salesforce.com Foundation Receives 2007 Partnership of the Year Award for its Dedication to Improving San Francisco Public Schools
Salesforce.com’s 1/1/1 integrated corporate philanthropy model enables employees to make a local
impact
SAN FRANCISCO –October 26, 2007 – Salesforce.com
Foundation, the global leader in integrating philanthropy and business, today announced that San
Francisco School Volunteers, an organization dedicated to creating, establishing and sustaining
communities of volunteers in support of public schools, has recognized the Salesforce.com
Foundation for its long-term partnership with San Francisco’s Jean Parker Elementary School.
The 2007 Partnership of the Year Award acknowledges the more than 300 salesforce.com employees who
have donated over 1,500 hours working with students at Jean Parker Elementary School to enrich
their learning experience and serve as positive role models.
“Salesforce.com is a great example of the positive impact that businesses can have by
partnering with local schools,” said Lisa Spinali, executive director, San Francisco School
Volunteers. “Its employees’ contributions over the past six years at Jean Parker Elementary
School in supporting the efforts of teachers to foster the academic and social growth of the
students has had a lasting impact.”
Salesforce.com employees began working with students at Jean Parker Elementary in San
Francisco’s Chinatown district in 2001 through San Francisco School Volunteers. Since then, the
company has had a consistent presence at Jean Parker Elementary through a wide variety of special
programs that aim to help the students develop their English language skills.
For example, salesforce.com employees actively listen to third, fourth and fifth grade
students read their favorite books as part of the weekly “I’m All Ears Club.” The students also
come to salesforce.com’s offices on a regular basis to gain a better understanding of the work
world and how to better prepare for it. Salesforce.com executives serve as honorary “
Principals for a Day” each year, and students are invited to participate in BizWorld, the
Salesforce.com Foundation’s program for developing the next generation of entrepreneurs. The
company also donates computers, technology and classroom supplies for special projects.
“In the beginning, the salesforce.com volunteers were strangers to me, but after working
together and visiting them in their office, they are now friends,” said 5th grader Kiki Wu. “
Salesforce.com is really a good example of volunteers who share and care. They share their
time and care for others. They deserve an A+!”
“We’re honored to be recognized for the dedication of our employees to the local community,
and to see the lasting impact of our integrated corporate philanthropy model where one percent of
paid employee time is given back to the community through volunteerism,” said Suzanne DiBianca,
executive director of the Salesforce.com Foundation.
