Salesforce.com Chairman and CEO Marc Benioff Receives InternetNews.com 2008 CEO Vision Award
Listing of Top 10 industry leaders honored for industry vision, talent and leadership
SAN FRANCISCO - October 7, 2008 - Salesforce.com [NYSE:
CRM], the market and technology leader in Software as a Service (SaaS) and Platform as a Service
(PaaS), today announced that InternetNews.com (a Jupitermedia property, Nasdaq: JUPM), has listed
chairman and CEO Marc Benioff among the technology industry's most visionary CEOs. As one of
the top 10 industry leaders to be honored with its 2008 CEO Vision Awards, InternetNews.com
recognized Benioff for his talent, drive, energy and leadership, and for his conviction to his
vision for Software as a Service. Joining Benioff on the list are industry luminaries Jeff
Bezos, Amazon.com; John Chambers, Cisco; Steve Jobs, Apple; and Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook.
"Our vision for the "End of Software" has never wavered," said Benioff. "Our customers
worldwide are building applications and running their businesses in the cloud. It's an honor to be
recognized by InternetNews.com for that vision and our customers' success."
Editors and judges at InternetNews.com commended Benioff for having the vision and making the
leap in 1999 to start a company that championed the benefits of Software as a Service. He was
given accolades for deepening the company's partnership with Google, and accelerating the company's
Platform as a Service approach with Force.com. According to InternetNews.com, "with the company on
track for a $1 billion year, Benioff is showing how a vision launched at the height of the dot-com
boom is bearing fruit."
The InternetNews.com CEO Vision Awards are designed to honor CEOs who impact the industry on
"the strength of clear vision" and are "executing on that vision." Criteria such as
innovation, accomplishments, and year-over-year performance were evaluated in the ranking.
Most importantly, according to InternetNews.com, "how and why (the CEO) made that vision happen
carried the most weight."
