Who Attended

Dreamforce is not just for Salesforce administrators. It’s for every person in your company seeking to use our applications and platform to unlock the innovation in their teams. It’s for business people with business challenges who want to turn their ideas into reality in the shortest amount of time.  Don't send your teams.  Be a part of the excitement!

More than a third of the attendees are business managers and executives from customer-facing departments like sales, marketing, alliances, customer service, support, and field operations. If you fall into one of these groups, come to Dreamforce and learn from our product experts and other successful customers how you can drive more effectiveness, productivity, and visibility from our Salesforce ad interpreted SaaS solutions.

Another third of attendees are from IT, operations, and development organizations. They range from hard-core developers to CIOs. These users, managers, and executives understand that cloud computing, service-oriented architecture (SOA), and software as a service are not just buzz words. They’re where development and servicing internal constituencies with cutting-edge technologies is going. If this sounds like you, attend Dreamforce and you’ll understand where cloud computing is going and how you can prepare for it. You’ll learn the nuts and bolts of how to leverage the Force.com platform to build natively and extend Salesforce or integrate our apps with your other IT assets.

The remaining third of attendees range from end users to GMs to C-level executives. They come from nontraditional CRM departments like product management, human resources, and recruiting. Many of our customers, partners, and prospects are forward-thinking in bringing multiple team members to divide and conquer.

And the types of companies that attend are just as varied—from large enterprises to small startups. From customers implementing Salesforce to ISVs and system integrators interested in developing natively on the Force.com platform.

It’s a diverse audience, but everyone who attends Dreamforce is united in a common desire: to unshackle the innovation in their company. And this is by no means a shy group; they’re fun and full of entrepreneurial spirit.

Earthforce Initiative at Dreamforce

We recognize that energy conservation and sustainability are vital parts of doing business in the 21st century. Salesforce.com is committed to improving the environmental performance of its business operations and encouraging a company culture where environmental excellence is second nature. As part of this commitment we recently created a corporate sustainability program to drive this mission. Dreamforce, of course, is a big part of that.

Why do we call it Earthforce? Because each year we aim to raise awareness, understand our footprint, and reduce the impact we have on the earth. At Dreamforce we seek to provide an environmentally friendly venue for our attendees. We aim to learn and make improvements each year based on our experience and ultimately hope to become a leader in event environmental best practices. Here are just a few of the things we’re doing this year to make Dreamforce a more environmentally conscious conference.

Paper Consumption
As with most of our marketing efforts, we have conducted the majority of the Dreamforce campaigns online. We continue our efforts to reduce paper consumption by limiting the amount of conference materials we produce. We printed our conference guide and collateral on 30% post consumer recycled paper with soy-based ink. We had recycle stations widely available throughout the conference to encourage attendees and exhibitors to recycle unwanted materials.

Exhibition Hall
In partnership with Freeman exhibit solutions, we incorporated sustainable practices into the Dreamforce Expo. We incorporated reusable materials into the exhibit booths and instructed all of our exhibitors on how to reduce waste and how to participate in the recycling program for post event clean up. We hope to reduce the amount of waste generated and increase the amount of materials reused or recycled.

Partnering with Moscone Center
Moscone Center is known nationwide as a leader in recycling, energy efficiency, and environmentally friendly design. The center sits in the heart of San Francisco, with convenient access to mass transportation. The center even has one of the nation's largest municipally-owned solar generation installations. Salesforce.com worked with Moscone in the following areas to make Dreamforce more sustainable.

Recycling and Composting
There were on-site recycling stations for paper, plastic, glass, and metal. Separate out organics for composting and recycle extra materials left behind by speakers, exhibitors, and other attendees.

Food and Beverage
We had water stations throughout the venue to prevent the use of one-time soft plastic water bottles. We pledged to incorporate local food into conference meals and to donate leftover food to local food banks. As always, we only used biodegradable or recyclable serveware and utensils.

Energy Efficiency
Moscone always uses alternative energy and energy-efficient lighting. We pledged to power down all computer and other electrical equipment at night to conserve energy.
