Overview

In collaboration with Salesforce.com Foundation, UK charity Young Enterprise London (YEL) www.yelondon.com will be running an afternoon of workshops for young people from schools across London.

To do this successfully we need volunteers to help deliver the workshops alongside a tutor, to share their knowledge of business, talk about their own path to success and to act as positive role models for the young people.

Objective

Young Enterprise London “create entrepreneurs today, for business tomorrow”; through workshops which help young people to prepare for the world of work. The workshops explore concepts of success, independence and employment, understanding the costs of living and exploring types of careers to match lifestyle expectations, as well as learning the importance of education and goal-setting to prepare for their future.

Workshops

Two consecutive workshops will run, each with 50 young people aged 13/14.

Workshop: Learn to Earn
Introduces students to the benefits of education through a series of lessons discovering the relationship between education, career options and learning personal economic skills. They also realise their talents and aptitudes through personal assessment and learn ways to gain the skills they will need for desired careers in the work force. Help these young people make the link between success at work and staying longer in education.

Volunteer Requirements
No preparation is needed! Just come along, be yourself and share your experiences: the young people want to hear how you got to where you are today. Each volunteer will work with a small group of students, facilitating their discussions and actively participating in activities while sharing with the students their personal experience of the world of work. Several volunteers may also be required to give a short presentation in front of the whole workshop.

A full briefing will be given to every volunteer prior to presenting.
