Salesforce.com and Sprint Announce Strategic Alliance

Alliance Will Provide Wireless Access to salesforce.com's Online Customer Relationship Management Services as part of the Sprint PCS Wireless Web for Business

KANSAS, MO & SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Jan 15, 2001 — Salesforce.com (www.salesforce.com), a market leader in delivering enterprise applications as online services, announced today that it has formed an alliance with Sprint PCS (NYSE: PCS), the nation's fastest growing wireless carrier, to provide its online customer relationship management suite as part of the Sprint PCS Wireless Web for Business. This strategic partnership will provide salesforce.com's customers with anytime, anywhere access to its powerful, scalable and affordable customer relationship management (CRM) applications on the nation's largest all-digital voice and data PCS wireless network.

Sprint PCS customers who subscribe to salesforce.com will be able to wirelessly access the online CRM applications and data — all via the Sprint PCS Wireless Web for Business on their Internet-ready Sprint PCS Phones. Customers who adopt this convenient wireless solution once it becomes available will be able to easily access the application under the Business Tools folder on their Sprint PCS Phone minibrowser.

"It is our belief that wireless access is the ubiquitous window into the fantastic world of information and collaboration of the Internet. Our alliance with Sprint PCS adds a new dimension to traditional customer relationship management," said John Dillon, president and CEO of salesforce.com. "With online enterprise subscription services like salesforce.com available on Sprint PCS Internet-ready Phones, sales teams across the country will have transparent access to mission-critical sales information virtually anytime, anywhere."

"Our partnership with salesforce.com demonstrates our continued commitment to offer applications to the business market that provide opportunities to improve productivity, enhance customer service and create a competitive edge," said Jay Highley, vice president, business marketing, Sprint PCS. "The availability of salesforce.com as part of the Sprint PCS Wireless Web for Business offers an invaluable tool for sales teams that require mobile solutions."

As a subscription-based service, salesforce.com eliminates the need to buy, install and maintain, hardware, software and networks, and can therefore be implemented in hours at a significantly lower cost than traditional enterprise software. This makes it particularly attractive to small- to medium-sized businesses that don't have the resources for large installations behind their firewalls, as well as for larger companies that have remote sales offices. As part of the Sprint PCS Wireless Web for Business, customers will be able to access salesforce.com at their convenience on the browser of a Sprint PCS Internet-ready Phone and require little or no training or IT support.

Salesforce.com and Sprint PCS will develop and maintain a co-branded web site for customers who sign up for the wireless application once it is available. The new application will be rolled out in the next few months.
