Salesforce.com Adds Lumenos to Its Growing Customer List

Consumer-Driven Health Care Company selects Salesforce.com's Online CRM Solution

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — October 28, 2002 — Salesforce.com, the market leader in online customer relationship management (CRM), today announced that Lumenos, a leading provider of consumer-driven health care, has standardized on salesforce.com. Lumenos has rolled out salesforce.com's Enterprise Edition to its sales force nationwide.

Salesforce.com offers CRM as a utility and presents customers with a pay-as-you-go, subscription-based ASP business model. Customers who migrate to salesforce.com from client/server software often see a positive business impact, such as faster and greater return on investment, from a flexible product that requires no added costs for maintenance or consultants. Lumenos believes that the product will prove to be a smart investment and an important tool for its sales team even in a good economy.

Salesforce.com quickly met our need to implement a nationwide, easy-to-use sales support tool," said Chad Pomeroy, chief technology officer of Lumenos. "We extended this cutting-edge service to our entire sales team for streamlined and straightforward CRM."

According to many analyst firms, enterprise CRM software, such as offerings from Siebel [NASDAQ: SEBL], PeopleSoft [NASDAQ: PSFT], and SAP [NYSE: SAP], fail to meet expectations over 50 percent of the time. Chuck Phillips of Morgan Stanley in Optimize Magazine (April 2002) has estimated that $130 billion in enterprise technologies purchased in the last two years has not been implemented, and that 40 percent of all enterprise software purchased is never installed.

"We understand that companies of all sizes and from all industries need powerful CRM functionality without the headaches, hassles and costly implementation cycles of traditional enterprise software," said Marc Benioff, chairman and CEO of salesforce.com. "We are pleased to provide a company that is pioneering a new model in health care with a CRM system that can meet its critical business needs to deliver."

Salesforce.com currently has more than 5,000 customers for its online CRM solution, including global leaders such as Le Meridien, Autodesk, and USA Today. Salesforce.com delivers its CRM solution as an online information utility via a Web Services infrastructure.
