Salesforce.com Customers Can Now Use Subscription My AvantGo® Service to Access Tasks, Accounts, Contacts and Opportunities on their Handheld Devices
Hayward, Calif. and San Francisco, Calif. - January 7, 2003 - AvantGo, Inc. (Nasdaq: AVGO), a leading provider of mobile enterprise software, and salesforce.com, the market leader in online customer relationship management (CRM), today announced AvantGo Mobile Sales™ for salesforce.com, a My AvantGo® channel that enables salesforce.com customers to view, update and manage salesforce.com information any time, from any location on their handheld devices - with or without wireless connections. By mobilizing salesforce.com information, the new product enables sales professionals to make the most of every customer interaction, while maximizing sales efficiency and productivity.
According to a recent AvantGo Sales Management and Field Sales Representative Study, the top three major obstacles cited by sales representatives for not using their CRM/SFA system more often were that the systems were too time-consuming, difficult to access and provided limited value to them in the field. In the survey, sales management and field-based representatives indicated that providing handheld access to CRM/SFA and other sales force systems would drive adoption and increase productivity of the sales force. In fact, 83% of sales representatives believed that a PDA sales solution would make them more productive in the field and 90% said they would use their CRM/SFA system more if they had handheld mobile access.
With the easy-to-use mobile application, salesforce.com customers can now access their important sales data when and where they need it most - on the road, at a customer site or anywhere else they take their handheld devices. Specifically, with AvantGo Mobile Sales for salesforce.com, users can access salesforce.com Tasks, Accounts, Contacts and Opportunities on their handheld devices, enabling them to view, update and manage new records right from the device, as well as search and find existing records quickly and easily. All customer information is synchronized locally to the handheld device, which ensures optimum performance and reliability. Wireless connectivity is not required.
"As the online CRM market leader, we are committed to providing our customers with solutions to meet every need and situation - whether they want to use their laptop or a handheld device, whether they are offline or have a wireless connection," said Marc Benioff, chairman and CEO of salesforce.com. "Many of our customers are mobile professionals, which is why we are partnering with AvantGo to deliver reliable, convenient, and intuitive access to salesforce.com information any time, from anywhere. This solution rounds out our mobile strategy by supporting a robust handheld extension to salesforce.com for the highest reliability and performance."
David Pratt, president and CEO of AvantGo, added: "Sales management today is challenged to receive timely and accurate information from the field, while field professionals are challenged to find value from current solutions. With AvantGo Mobile Sales for salesforce.com, we are delivering a solution that meets the needs of both sales management and field sales professionals by providing a value-added, field-based solution that reduces reps' administration time and increases the speed, quality and quantity of data captured at the point of activity and entered into the corporate sales force automation system."
