Salesforce.com introduces new Force.com on-demand platform – world’s first Platform-as-a-Service – and breakthrough new Visualforce technology – world's first User Interface-as-a-Service
Salesforce.com the market and technology leader in on-demand business services, today kicked off its fifth annual Dreamforce Conference at Moscone Center in San Francisco. With more than 7,000 people in attendance, Dreamforce brings together the global salesforce.com community of customers, partners, developers, industry luminaries and employees to share and drive the next wave of innovation in on-demand computing. The culmination of salesforce.com’s news announced today at Dreamforce is the company’s emergence as a multi-application, multi-category on-demand leader.

Salesforce Winter 2008: Salesforce Winter 2008 will expand Salesforce from four to six major application product lines Salesforce Winter 2008, the 24th generation of the industry-leading Software-as-a-Service CRM and Force.com Platform-as-a-Service, will expand Salesforce from four to six major application product lines with two new applications – Salesforce Content and Salesforce Ideas. The Salesforce Winter 2008 release will utilise the Force.com Platform-as-a-Service to bring Web 2.0 technologies like tagging and inline editing to the entire suite of Salesforce CRM applications. Salesforce.com hits new milestone in on demand with 700th application live on the AppExchange Salesforce.com showcased the rapid expansion of the AppExchange economy by announcing the 700th application live on the AppExchange, a human relationship management application from Fairsail. More than 350 partners have made more than 700 applications available on the world’s leading on-demand marketplace. Equally important, customers are using the AppExchange as an iTunes-style directory to browse find, and install on-demand applications: more than 34,000 application installs by more than 12,000 customers in 74 countries worldwide have taken place since it launched.
