Salesforce.com, the enterprise cloud computing company, has announced that it has been named to the Ethisphere Institute’s 2009 list of the “World’s Most Ethical Companies” for the third consecutive year. Ethisphere Institute is an international think-tank dedicated to the creation, advancement and sharing of best practices in business ethics, corporate social responsibility, anti-corruption and sustainability. Salesforce.com was honoured along with an impressive array of global companies on the list, including American Express, Dell, General Mills, Google, Texas Instruments and Xerox, among others. “Our company is built upon a foundation of social responsibility because we believe that giving our time, product and equity through our 1/1/1 Model is not only the right thing to do, but it also helps our communities and customers,” said Marc Benioff, chairman and CEO of salesforce.com. “We’re pleased to be included in Ethisphere Institute’s 2009 list of the World’s Most Ethical Companies for the third year in a row. It’s an honour we work hard every day to earn.” In order to choose the World’s Most Ethical Companies, Ethisphere’s researchers and analysts, including leading attorneys, government officials, professors and organisation leaders, reviewed more than 10,000 companies in a rigorous, multi-step evaluation process.

The committee reviewed codes of ethics, litigation and regulatory infraction histories; evaluated the investment in innovation and sustainable business practices; looked at activities designed to improve corporate citizenship; studied nominations from senior executives, industry peers, suppliers and customers; and worked with consumer action groups for feedback. “Salesforce.com has proven to be one of the world leaders in upholding high ethical standards, making it a true standout in its industry, especially as unethical business actions and decisions grab headlines each day,” said Alex Brigham, executive director of the Ethisphere Institute. “The competition for this year’s World’s Most Ethical Companies was very strong and we applaud salesforce.com for recognising that being ethical is not only the right thing to do, but also a good business practice that leads to more successful and profitable operations.” To view the complete list of the 2009 World’s Most Ethical Companies, please visit http://ethisphere.com/wme2009.
