Salesforce.com, the enterprise cloud computing company, has announced the availability of Force.com Sites, a revolutionary new capability that expands the world’s leading cloud platform to deliver real-time Web sites and Web applications.

With the addition of Force.com Sites, companies can now use Force.com to build and run applications for their internal business processes as well as public-facing Web sites - entirely on salesforce.com's real-time cloud computing platform.

The availability of Force.com Sites dramatically expands Force.com’s role in enterprise cloud computing by providing companies the fastest way to build and run Web sites and applications in real-time without requiring any software or hardware infrastructure.

Web sites built with Force.com Sites benefit from the proven security, reliability and scalability of salesforce.com’s real-time platform. Building your Web site using Force.com Sites requires only a few steps to get up and running:

Results from the Force.com Sites Customer Preview Program: 85 companies, including American Red Cross, Crocs, Dell, FICO, Juniper Networks, NJ TRANSIT, Seagate, Starbucks, and more participated in the Force.com Sites customer preview programme, which began in February 2009. The customer preview included sites built for e-commerce, recruitment, distribution and inventory management, ticketing and scheduling, Facebook apps, social networking, community sites and much more. Web sites created in the customer preview delivered more than 38 million page views, 350 million site hits and served more than 5 terabytes of data.
