Meet the Speakers of the first SocialSuccess MicUp

We're excited to announce the speaker line up for our first #SocialSuccess Mic-Up on September 5th. We were so pleased to receive many excellent entries and can't wait to hear the chosen five take to the stage, open-mic style.

In the spirit of a social meet-up, we asked each of our speakers to answer five short questions, which you can see below, alongside their chosen topics. We're looking forward to seeing you there!

Remember to join the conversation with #socialsuccess #micup

@GabrielleNYC

  1. What was your first social media profile?
    Twitter -  Bio read: Curious, World Traveler, Fast cars, Martinis,  Nomad... searching for answers
  2. What is your favourite social media metric?
    That's hard, as it depends what you are trying to show. Reach, Response etc.
  3. Are you using any new social networks that you think could be the next big thing?
    Path is interesting ( people using SM seem to have a need for a closed & closer network, less broadcast )
  4. Who would be your number one person to follow and why?
    Ahh! How to pick... Jeremy Waite  @jeremywaite on Twitter. He is informed & informative, fun & funny, happy to share & help.
    Really knows how to use Social Media well, never boring.
  5. What should the theme be for our next #SocialSuccess Mic-Up?
    As this one is "BestKeptSocialSecrets" the next should folllow the Secrets & Lies theme what about  "Authenticity & Transparency"

"Speaking to your customers and building a community are 2 totally different things. I'll tell you why…”
@jeremywaite

  1. What was your first social media profile?
    Friends Reunited. People forget that was one of the first social networks

  2. What is your favourite social media metric?
    Sentiment. Probably the most important, hardest to work out and un-der-rated metric of them all! #geek

  3. Are you using any new social networks that you think could be the next big thing?
    Medium by Biz & Ev from Twitter looks interesting – but I think Pinterest hasn't even started yet. BIG opportunities there (especially for social commerce).
  4. Who would be your number one person to follow and why? ! Tough question. Can I have more than 1?
    The three best people to follow on twitter – who CAN'T be on Twitter. Mark Twain. Jesus. John Lennon. They would have killed it on Twitter :)
  5. What should the theme be for our next #SocialSuccess Mic-Up?
    "Just because you can measure everything doesn't mean that you should."

“Use Path to set up a small, limited social group for sharing stuff you don't want on the popular platforms”
@dougkessler

  1. What was your first social media profile?
    I think I may have actually had a MySpace profile first. (Does Second Life count?)
  2. What is your favourite social media metric?
    Social Conversions.  People who came from social media channels and downloaded one of our content pieces.
  3. Are you using any new social networks that you think could be the next big thing?
    Well, Google+ has a lot of good things but not sure it's getting the traction it needs.
    Zeebox is a cool social TV app. SoundCloud is a great way to share audio.
    Chatter is gaining momentum for enterprise social. (I've always wanted to do LinkedOut -- a site that protects you from all the people you never want to hear from again.)
  4. Who would be your number one person to follow and why?
    @TheOnion America's finest news source.
  5. What should the theme be for our next #SocialSuccess Mic-Up?

    Google+ may be considered the Google employee tool but I think it'll overtake Facebook... one day!
  4. Who would be your number one person to follow and why?
    Anyone who shares the latest viral / topical information first...
  5. What should the theme be for our next #SocialSuccess Mic-Up?

"The importance of your personal brand and when to move on"
@philcampbell

  1. What was your first social media profile?
    I guess it was my twitter account in 2006. Simply cannot remember another, I'm sure I had others before they were known as social media profiles. First 10k of users.
  2. What is your favourite social media metric?
    I rarely use metrics. I'm too busy making. I guess the only metric I go on is the one when I meet up with people at events and conferences. If I'm still relevant or not.
  3. Are you using any new social networks that you think could be the next big thing?
    Nope. I don't follow trends.
  4. Who would be your number one person to follow and why?
    cc_chapman - he's a great digital dad, great ambassador of doing/taking part and is a great voice in the US/Europe social media scene.
  5. What should the theme be for our next #SocialSuccess Mic-Up?
    Small Business Social Toolkits - what do they look like and why make them?
