Broadmoor Development Corporation (BDC), a nonprofit organization dedicated to the redevelopment of
Broadmoor, New Orleans, is using donated and discounted licenses of Salesforce CRM, which it

to improve operations and increase its overall success. The BDC easily tailored Salesforce
CRM to meet its particular needs, and now has a custom case management solution that helps it
return program participants to their neighborhoods and homes.
"Before Hurricane Katrina, we were able to manage our community programs manually with paper
forms and spreadsheets. Then suddenly our focus was dramatically changed and we were
inundated with people in need of assistance," said Hal Roark, executive director at the Broadmoor
Development Corporation. "Salesforce.com's donation enabled us to quickly develop a solution
that supported our growing operations."
Like most nonprofits, the BDC operates with a lean staff and tight budgets. The
organization had no IT staff and little technical expertise to devote to a case management
application. Leveraging the support of a college intern, the BDC had Salesforce CRM
customized and running in less than two months. Now, the BDC has an efficient and easy way to
collect and store data, and to match available residences with individuals in need of housing.
"We literally bought our intern a 'Salesforce for Dummies' book and set her free to
work. With no prior Salesforce CRM experience, she was able to configure the solution and
teach the rest of us to use it," added Roark. "Salesforce CRM is now used as our complete
case management system and is enabling us to be more efficient and serve more people in less
time. Even better, Salesforce CRM is helping us meet our objectives to return our community
to the great place it once was."
