Through in-depth interviews and a survey of 1,031 workers from Singapore, the research uncovered five distinct AI personas that employers need to understand as they implement AI and bring workers onboard \u201cThe AI Team\u201d \u2014 a workplace where humans and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/service\/ai\/agents-guide\/\">AI agents<\/a> work successfully side-by-side:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Maximalist (25%): Maximalists are using AI multiple times a week to improve their work and are shouting from the rooftops about it.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Underground (22%): Undergrounds are Maximalists in disguise, using AI often but hesitant to share with their colleagues that they are doing so.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Rebel (13%): Rebels don\u2019t subscribe to the AI hype. They avoid using AI and consider it unfair when coworkers engage with these tools.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Superfan (23%): Superfans are excited and admire the advances made in AI, but aren\u2019t yet making the most use out of it at work.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Observer (17%): Observers have yet to integrate AI into their work. They are watching with interest and caution.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Salesforce perspective: <\/strong>\u201cThe AI-powered future of work isn&#8217;t just about enterprises, it&#8217;s also about employees \u2014 and it\u2019s redefining everything from careers to workplace culture. But to realise the promise of AI, companies need to make AI work for workers and bring everyone onboard The AI Team,\u201d<strong> <\/strong>said <strong>Christina Janzer, SVP of Research and Analytics at Slack, a Salesforce company<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Why it matters: <\/strong>Leader urgency to implement AI has <a href=\"https:\/\/slack.com\/blog\/news\/the-workforce-index-june-2024\">grown 7x<\/a> since the beginning of the year, but more than two-thirds of workers have yet to use the technology at work. There\u2019s a real risk if that trend continues: Companies and employees alike can <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/news\/stories\/ai-trends-for-crm\/\">miss out on tangible benefits<\/a> by not adopting AI. In addition to improving efficiencies, AI can elevate the employee experience \u2014 from overall performance and productivity to wellbeing. And Slack\u2019s new research shows that onboarding employees onto AI isn&#8217;t a one-size-fits-all approach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Dive deeper into each AI persona: <\/strong>The findings also show a mix of emotions and perspectives regarding AI in Singapore, depending on which category of users they fall into.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>The Maximalist<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>65%<\/strong> reveal their use of AI at work <strong>and<\/strong> actively encourage others to use it<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Their <strong>#1 motivation<\/strong> to use AI at work is to increase their capacity to get more work done<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>74%<\/strong> say the use of AI is actively encouraged at their company, regardless of having guidelines for use (or not)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>The Underground&nbsp;<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>56% <\/strong>use AI at least a couple of times a week<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>72%<\/strong> don\u2019t actively share about their use <strong><em>or<\/em><\/strong> encourage others to use AI&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>40%<\/strong> say their company doesn&#8217;t encourage the use of AI at work<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The Rebel&nbsp;<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>More than half (53%)<\/strong> never use AI at work<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>57%<\/strong> believe AI is mostly a threat to society<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>36%<\/strong> say it\u2019s unfair if coworkers use AI to complete their tasks&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The Superfan&nbsp;<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>74%<\/strong> use AI less than once a month<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>79%<\/strong> admire coworkers who apply AI to their work in creative ways<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The Observer&nbsp;<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>62%<\/strong> feel <strong>indifferent<\/strong> about AI in the workplace<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>More than one-third<\/strong><strong> (35%)<\/strong> are interested in learning or further developing AI skills<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAs leaders, it\u2019s important that we tailor our approach and help set every employee up for success in the AI-powered workplace.
