The more we all succeed and grow, the more we can help others.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of that commitment, Pip announced two exciting grants to Raise and DeadlyScience \u2013 you can read more about the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/au\/blog\/2022\/04\/investing-in-mentorship-and-stem-resources.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">work they do and how they\u2019ll be using these grants<\/a> to make the digital economy accessible to everyone and prepare Australia for the future.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In other words, the drive to innovate and succeed from anywhere is inextricably linked to our ability to build a better future \u2014 and present \u2014 for everyone. But innovation often depends on a new type of leadership, one that was on full display in Pip\u2019s interview with Dylan Alcott.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"a-candid-and-hilarious-interview-with-the-australian-of-the-year\">A candid \u2014 and hilarious \u2014 interview with the Australian of the Year<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Before becoming the first person with a visible disability to win Australian of the Year, Dylan Alcott was already a Paralympic champion and tennis golden grand slam winner. But, on stage, Dylan shared that he used to see himself in a very different way and experienced bullying due to his disability. To overcome those challenges, Dylan credits the support from family and mentors \u2014 and his overarching purpose is to do the same for others by giving back in any way he can.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBeing a good tennis player is about number 30 on my priority list\u2026 It\u2019s so much easier to get out of bed when you live your life with purpose. He also leads a consulting firm, where employees all have some type of disability.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So how is he accomplishing all this?&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>First, Dylan challenged the traditional idea of a stoic \u2018leader\u2019, explaining that vulnerability is a crucial part of connecting with others. Leading by example, Dylan shared the difficulties of overcoming negative self image and bullying. He said that it takes lots of hard work, yes \u2014 but it\u2019s also about being yourself and knowing when to ask others for help, including seeking mental health support in the same way we train our bodies physically.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"a-golden-hoodie-for-a-meaningful-purpose\">A Golden Hoodie for a meaningful purpose<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>It would be hard to follow a class act like Dylan \u2014 in post-show remarks, he called his own performance the \u201cworst\u201d on the stage but, sorry Dylan, no one agrees with you about that! Yet one of our favourite moments of the show happened when Pip awarded a coveted Golden Hoodie to Two21 founder Kel Henderson. She pointed out that it\u2019s a great example of not needing to be a huge organisation to put a 1-1-1 model to good use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kel shared that, after one of his sons was born with Down\u2019s syndrome, he questioned his purpose \u2014 and ultimately decided that he wanted to use his 25 years of IT experience in a way that gave back. This led him to found <a href=\"https:\/\/two21.co\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Two21<\/a>, a Salesforce partner and IT consulting firm that specialises in assisting the not-for-profit sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With over 800 Trailhead badges, Kel\u2019s advice to other Trailblazers was this: \u201cYou\u2019ve got all the tools. Going from \u2018wow\u2019 to \u2018how\u2019.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This underpinned many of the comments from Gayan Benedict, CTO and VP of Customer Advisory, ANZ. Building on Pip\u2019s keynote, which explored the type of future we wanted to build and why, Gayan acknowledged that we\u2019re in a \u201cnew world.\u201d That\u2019s left many of us asking: \u201c<i>How<\/i> is the new future going to work?\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Practically speaking, it\u2019s shaking out to be a business landscape where connecting with customers has never been harder \u2014 or more important. This doesn\u2019t just require new ways of working, said Gayan, it requires a whole new playbook. And a new playbook needs to include a digital head office that can connect employees and customers from anywhere. But we also heard exciting announcements that will help Trailblazers build on these foundations and take the \u2018wow\u2019 to the next level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"the-new-marketing-cloud-and-service-cloud-marketing-and-service-are-better-together\">The new Marketing Cloud and Service Cloud: marketing and service are better together<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Lynne Zaledonis, Salesforce\u2019s EVP of Cloud and Industry Marketing, joined us all the way from the United States to explain <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/news\/stories\/new-salesforce-service-and-marketing-innovations-use-trusted-data-and-ai-to-humanize-customer-interactions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the exciting launches of brand-spankin\u2019-new product innovations<\/a>. But the Main Show wouldn\u2019t have been complete without seeing the \u2018what\u2019 \u2014 that is, what many of these principles and innovations look like in practice.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s why it was so helpful to get an up-close look at exactly how New Zealand-based accounting software Xero and Australian <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/au\/customer-success-stories\/mecca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">beauty giant MECCA<\/a> are stitching together customer data and turning individual moments into long-lasting customer relationships.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As an example, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/au\/customer-success-stories\/xero\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Xero has been supporting more than three million clients<\/a>&nbsp;\u2014 largely small businesses \u2014 throughout the turbulent years of the pandemic.
