Blazing Trails Podcast: Community Impact with Stephen and Ayesha Curry

Listen as Stephen and Ayesha Curry join Fortune Senior Editor Ellen McGirt to talk more about Eat. Learn. Play.’s commitment ‘to unlocking the amazing potential of every child.’

Here are some pretty astonishing stats to think about:

  • One in six kids is affected by hunger nationwide.
  • Only 14% of students from low-income households obtain a college degree.
  • Just one in four kids in the U.S. gets the recommended daily amount of physical activity.

What our children eat, learn, and how much they play all have a huge impact on their ability to develop physically, mentally, emotionally, and academically. These three core values are the focal point of Stephen and Ayesha Currys’ new non-profit, Eat. Learn. Play.

Basketball fans know Stephen Curry as the three-time NBA champion, two-time MVP, and point guard for the Golden State Warriors. His wife, Ayesha, runs her own lifestyle brand centered around food, cooking, and home — and includes a popular chain restaurant and newly announced magazine. But what you may not have known is what the Currys are doing to transform their local community and beyond.

“No matter where you are in the world, everyone has their tribe, they have their village… And so really right now, in the here and now, our goal is to truly just be the village for the people around us that don’t have that village,” says Ayesha Curry.

We had the good fortune of being able to sit down with this supercouple at Dreamforce ‘19 and talk about how they are leveraging their exhaustive network to help children across the country.
