Pioneering Psychiatrist Kim Norman’s Advice to Help Children During This Pandemic

How to Adjust Your AI Strategy to Address Volatility in a Time of Crisis

UCSF psychiatrist and professor Dr. Kim Norman provides advice for navigating the additional time many of us are experiencing with our families right now.

Welcome to another edition of B-Well, a 30-minute webinar series, highlighting tips, resources, and coping skills from leading wellbeing experts to support you and your families through these trying times. Prior episodes featured Thrive Global founder Arianna Huffington and Buddhist practitioner Jack Kornfield.

Kim Norman, MD, is a psychiatrist and professor for adolescent and young adult health at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). He also founded UCSF’s Young Adult and Family Center, which pioneered psychiatry programs for young adults and their families. In today’s webinar, he helps us navigate the “wonderful and challenging” additional time many of us are spending with our families now. Norman primarily addresses how we can be helpful to children during this time of crisis. He introduces the concept of “The Four R’s,” which are resiliency, reassurance, routine, and regulated emotions. Kim also provides advice for different age groups, from toddlers to post-college children stuck at home, peppering in some great advice for partners, too. Watch the video in full below to glean all of his wisdom.

The B-Well series is part of a larger Leading Through Change initiative providing thought leadership, tips, and resources to help business leaders manage through crises. Check out some of our most recent articles:
