As a recent post on <i>Business2Community<\/i> notes, it has flourished among startups because <a href=\"http:\/\/www.business2community.com\/marketing\/growth-hacking-history-success-stories-01181327\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">smaller firms often lack adequate resources to market themselves<\/a>. Instead, they take advantage of mobile apps, cloud computing and social media to accelerate the adoption of their product and number of customers.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, small and medium-sized Canadian businesses who don\u2019t think of themselves as startups could also benefit from growth hacking techniques. Consider the following ideas:<\/p>\n<p><b>Prioritize around the customers that will grow most quickly<\/b><\/p>\n<p>SMBs may want to be all things to all people, but achieving the growth means making careful choices. Experts have suggested to <i>TechVibes<\/i> that most customers fall into three categories: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.techvibes.com\/blog\/growth-hacking-is-not-marketing-2013-02-22\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">curious, casual and core<\/a>. As the names suggest, there is a big difference between those who kick the tires of your firm\u2019s products and services versus those who do business from time to time and your die-hard loyalists. Use analytics to understand which of your customers fall into each bucket, and allocate your marketing resources accordingly.<\/p>\n<p><b>Do as the startups do<\/b><\/p>\n<p>You don\u2019t have to be a startup to learn how they approach growth hacking and to apply it to your own market. Canada has a number of conferences and events that bring experts from diverse backgrounds together. If you don\u2019t have time to leave the office, StartupSocials hosts <a href=\"http:\/\/www.startupsocials.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">virtual growth hacking summits<\/a> for Canadians online.<\/p>\n<p><b>Start developing your own in-house growth hackers<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Nobody understand better how new career paths emerge better than the recruiters, which is why Randstad Canada recently published a blog post outlining <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.randstad.ca\/blog\/growth-hacking-what-is-it-how-is-it-helping-companies\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the tools and approaches of growth hacking that bring benefits to Canadian businesses<\/a>. The good news is the recommendations include a lot of tools that are widely available today, such as <a adhocenable=\"false\" href=\"http:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/ca\/saas\/?d=70130000000iCDF\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">software-as-a-service<\/a> applications and mobile apps.
