Marketing and Events Manager, Canada (CONTRACT POSITION)

The Canadian Marketing team is looking for an experienced Marketing and Events Manager.   This position will support the strategic planning, execution and oversight of marketing events programs in Canada.  This individual will be accountable for lead and pipeline targets for each program.  The candidate is expected to foster tight alignment with the sales teams and will play a key role to ensure growth of the Canada business unit.

The role is to be action packed and fun - and we’ll need someone with a creative spirit, coupled with a thoughtful and analytical mind.   As an organized self-starter, the ability to quickly learn and manage lots of projects and tasks will be key to the candidate’s success.  Expect to collaborate with internal stakeholders (sales, product marketing and campaigns) on a daily basis.  Having the aptitude to influence and communicate with all levels will be critical. 

Responsibilities:

  • Influence and deliver the annual event strategy that meets the Canadian Business Unit’s objectives
  • Manage all aspects of the event program (e.g. Stratgeic Events, Trade shows, 3rd party industry events, developer events, workshops, dinners) including budget management, meeting facilitation – planning and execution, logistics, internal communication, target audience acquisition, vendor management, production aspects, speaker plan, presentation and messaging development and sales enablement
  • Complete pre- and post-event assessment, identifying recommendations for improvement
  • Be the marketing communication liaison for the sales team – represent and position key executive programs, marketing programs and alliance marketing activities
  • Collaborate with product marketing and corporate marketing teams to create product collateral, presentations, demos, and sales tools
  • Grow and nurture a network of customer advocates and influencers for use in localized campaigns and customer success stories (e.g. blog, website, webinars, events)
  • Integrate key stakeholders in event program development to ensure alignment with corporate initiatives, sales segments and product lines
  • Own all internal marketing communications to sales teams and internal stakeholders
  • Understand and apply Salesforce brand and product positioning to ensure consistent messaging and execution
  • Manage/leverage agency relationships to drive standardization, innovation and efficiency in event programs
  • Work with the online team to manage and drive audience acquisition – including, internal communications, external email campaigns, event websites, registration and social media
  • Work with procurement systems and procedures – purchase orders, sponsorship agreements, SOW’s and contracts

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree with a Marketing, Communications or Business emphasis
  • 7+ years of sales or marketing experience, preferably in a field-facing role
  • 2+ years of  event planning experience, in-person and hands-on management is preferred
  • Strong knowledge of Salesforce or other CRM application, both within an event marketing context (campaigns, reports, and dashboards), as well as within a sales context (account intelligence, propensity and pipeline)
  • Results oriented with demonstrated expertise of program and results measurement and impact analysis
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Keynote or similar
  • Other collaboration and productivity applications (Quip, Google Suite)

  • Strong organization, communication and presentation skills, excellent attention to detail and timeline management
  • Experience managing a broad variety of events, including 500+ person conferences  - and being passionate about it
  • Strong project management and interpersonal communication skills
  • Creative thinker, open to idea exploration with strong problem solving/analytical abilities
  • Ability to creatively negotiate demands
  • Ability to assess and prioritize workload in a strict deadline oriented environment
  • Thrive on overcoming obstacles
  • Self-starter, motivated and able to multi-task
  • Able to work with a minimal amount of supervision
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and travel when required
  • Knowledge of graphic design software (eg. Photoshop)
  • Languages: fluency in English and working knowledge of French an asset
