Salesforce’s multi-tenant cloud computing model has a much smaller environmental footprint than traditional IT hardware and software. By sharing computing resources among a large number of customers, we achieve enormous economies of scale, especially when it comes to carbon and energy consumption. In fact, the Salesforce platform is already 50x more environmentally friendly than on-premise solutions.

In addition to focusing on operational excellence, we believe the cloud should be powered by clean sources of energy. We’re also working to achieve 100% renewable energy for our global operations.

Protecting our planet must be a priority for every business, government and individual. We encourage companies of all sizes and industries to join us by making their organizations a platform for change. Here’s how some of our customers are taking action:

Schneider Electric makes bringing energy to everyone on the planet a core part of its mission — in ways that are safe, reliable, efficient, connected, and sustainable. By redefining power and automation — and by innovating at every level — the company invents connected technologies that ensure “Life Is On” everywhere, for everyone, at every moment. Schneider Electric relies on partners like Salesforce across its diverse business. The result: one powerfully seamless unified customer experience.

The Sierra Club is the nation’s largest and most influential grassroots environmental organization—committed to protecting the planet, helping people explore the planet, and preserving the planet. Their successes range from protecting millions of acres of wilderness to helping pass the Clean Air and Clean Water Acts. The Sierra Club looked to Salesforce for a platform that would scale with their growth, offer mobility, and offer identity management capabilities to help them weave together their online presence with their traditional grassroots presence.

Pollinate Energy is transforming the lives of people in India’s slums by equipping them with affordable technologies designed to have a lasting impact. Approximately 390 million people across India live in under-serviced slums – communities of tents and other makeshift shelters that are often not connected to state electricity and water supplies. Pollinate uses Salesforce to track all sales of its products across several Indian slums.
