Welcome to Salesforce New York - one of the Best Places to Work according to Crain’s New York Business in 2019. In my 17 years at Salesforce, it’s been amazing to experience firsthand how we’ve been able to grow and transform so rapidly while remaining true to our core values. With this growth comes lots of excitement and change, which is exactly what has happened in our hub. 16 years ago, there were only eight Salesforce employees in New York. Today, we have over 1,000 employees in New York City and the residing areas. I believe our continuous growth has fueled our success and has led us to be recognized by Crain’s New York Business for the fourth year.

Innovation fuels our growth but so do our employees. This fiscal year alone, we’ve welcomed over

150 employees into our New York office. Our hub, like our city, is a melting pot. In New York, we have employees from all parts of our business, from technical, marketing, product, and legal, and everything in between. It’s these diverse specialties and perspectives that fuel collaboration and continuous learning in our hub.

I’ve learned that growth isn’t always physical or tangible. At times, growth can simply be a change in perspective. We’ve experienced this at Salesforce through the spirit of employee advocacy. When I moved back to New York from our HQ in San Francisco back in 2004 I could tell a cultural shift was happening but I couldn’t pinpoint it at the time. That shift is now apparent. Today’s employees hold their employer to a higher standard and it’s refreshing to see. At Salesforce, we’ve been led to take a stance on issues that are deeply personal and important to the overall wellbeing of our employees both in and out of the office. We’re truly an Ohana and we take the initiative to do what is right for our employees and communities. It’s inspiring!

I think John Maxwell, an American author, sums it up best when he says, “Change is inevitable. Growth is optional.” A lot has changed in the past 17 years at Salesforce. However, one constant is our ability to pioneer a whole new way of doing business - one in which its success is inseparable from building a better world. It’s our commitment to growth and innovation that consistently amazes me and makes me proud to work here. I’m thankful to all 1,000+ employees in our New York hub for their daily contributions that have led us to this incredible recognition by Crain’s New York Business.
