Salesforce.com strengthens management team; co-founder Parker Harris named executive vice president, technology
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. — December 7, 2004 — Salesforce.com (NYSE: CRM), the market and technology leader in on-demand customer relationship management (CRM), today announced that Kenneth I. Juster will be joining the company's senior management team. Juster is currently U.S. Under Secretary of Commerce. In late January, he will become salesforce.com's executive vice president of legal affairs and corporate development. A veteran of 25 years in the legal and policy communities, Juster will bring with him extensive experience in government, law, business, and international affairs.

Juster is expected to leave his current position on Jan. 7, 2005. Juster's duties will include oversight of legal matters, internal audit, and mergers and acquisitions. Benioff also announced that General Counsel David Schellhase had been promoted to senior vice president.

As Under Secretary of Commerce, Juster has been in charge of the Bureau of Industry and Security, which seeks to advance U.S. national security, foreign policy, and economic interests. Among his various duties, Juster has overseen the export of sensitive U.S. goods and technologies to other countries. He has also served as the U.S. chair of the U.S.-India High Technology Cooperation Group, and launched the Commerce Department's Transshipment Country Export Control Initiative, which focuses on facilitating trade while enhancing security at the world's major transshipment hubs.
Juster's career has spanned both the public and private sectors. He previously served as the counselor of the U.S. Department of State from 1992-1993, and as the deputy and senior adviser to Deputy Secretary of State Lawrence S. Eagleburger from 1989-1992.

Both between and prior to his government appointments, Juster was a partner in the law firm of Arnold & Porter, where his international practice involved general litigation and dispute resolution, regulatory matters, and corporate counseling. He holds a law degree from the Harvard Law School, a master's degree in public policy from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard, and a bachelor of arts degree in government from Harvard College.
In addition to welcoming Juster, Benioff announced several enhancements to the salesforce.com management team. Parker Harris is being named executive vice president, technology. Harris currently oversees development for salesforce.com.

Reporting directly to Benioff will be Jim Steele, president, distribution; Pat Sueltz, president, operations; Steve Cakebread, chief financial officer; Harris and Juster.
