Salesforce.com Foundation doubles down on its philanthropic 1/1/1 model – commits to more than 100,000 volunteer hours from employees and donates social and mobile cloud technologies in addition to grants

SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 17, 2012 – The Salesforce.com Foundation today announced that it will award $10 million in grants to benefit San Francisco’s District 10 in celebration of the 10th annual Dreamforce. The $10 million commitment, which will be given to five anchor grantees over the next five years, is directed at accelerating the transformation of San Francisco’s 10th District. District 10 represents the southeastern corridor of San Francisco, including the neighborhoods of Bayview Hunters Point, Potrero Hill and Visitacion Valley.

The five anchor grantees—Year Up, UCSF, San Francisco General Hospital Foundation and the Southeast Health Center, The Exploratorium and The Campaign for Hope SF—will receive targeted funding to expand capacity and programs across a range of education, health and economic opportunities. The targeted funds represent a strong mix of capital and program support.

Leveraging the Unique 1/1/1 Model
Since its founding, the Salesforce.com Foundation has pioneered an integrated corporate philanthropy model that leverages salesforce.com’s people, products and financial resources to help advance solutions to social and environmental problems.

• Employee Time & Skills
The Salesforce.com Foundation will sponsor a company-wide coordinated program to engage employees in meaningful volunteer work, providing more than 100,000 hours of service to support families, children, schools, community centers and public parks in San Francisco’s southeastern neighborhoods. This commitment kicks off on the day before Dreamforce with volunteers working on trail restoration, clean up and maintenance in McLaren Park.

• Technology
Nonprofits serving District 10 can access salesforce.com’s industry-leading social and mobile cloud computing technologies through the Foundation’s donated and discounted license program. With salesforce.com’s technology, nonprofits can connect and collaborate with those they serve in entirely new ways, as well as manage their programs and measure their effectiveness. And by automating many of their processes, these organizations will be able to focus more time and resources on achieving their mission.

Grants will provide partner organizations with the financial resources to expand capacity, advance proven programs and engage with the community on education, health and jobs over the next five years.

In addition to launching this five-year initiative at Dreamforce, the Salesforce.com Foundation will host a number of activities at the event that demonstrate the company’s commitment to integrated philanthropy, including:

• The third annual Concert for UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital – Hosted at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium on Thursday, September 20th at 6:30 p.m. PST, the benefit concert will feature Lady Antebellum, Dana Carvey and an after-party featuring DJ MC Hammer. • On-site volunteering – The Salesforce.com Foundation is bringing volunteer events to attendees at Dreamforce. The passion and energy of attendees will be channeled into local community projects including: cleaning up McLaren Park, creating disaster preparedness kits with the American Red Cross, developing care packages for children in homeless shelters with Project Night Night and building bikes for local youth with Playworks.
