Molson Coors is a global beverage leader with over 200 years of heritage, offering iconic beer brands like Coors Light and Miller Lite, alongside a diverse portfolio including spirits, seltzers, and non-alcoholic beverages.
For a company as globally recognized as Molson Coors, ensuring the protection and accessibility of business-critical data is paramount. With a vast product portfolio and a presence in over 100 countries, Molson Coors relies on Salesforce to manage essential data, including customer agreements, distribution documents, and sales information.
However, the scale and complexity of its Salesforce environments, spanning multiple business entities and geographic territories, posed serious challenges. Business continuity was always top of mind. The team understood that losing access to key data during migrations or in the event of an unplanned outage could have severe consequences. Without a strong data protection and governance strategy in place, the risk of data loss during cross-org migrations was simply too high.
“As a brewing company, selling beer is the core concept for us,” says Mamatha Dhanoji, App Development Associate Manager at Molson Coors. “If we’re not protecting this data, we risk losing business in the event of an emergency.” That leaves a lot of thirsty people.
The challenge grew more complex as Molson Coors expanded its Salesforce ecosystem—migrating and syncing data across multiple orgs now required managing not just volume, but also maintaining data consistency and structural integrity.
“When we need to replicate data across orgs, it’s not an easy task,” Mamatha explains. “Recreating the hierarchical relationships from scratch would be time-consuming, so having the right tools in place was crucial.”
Managing this process manually would have required significant time and resources. With thousands of records, including nested account structures and transactional data, ensuring accurate replication and maintaining referential integrity across orgs was a time-intensive effort. Even minor discrepancies in data migration could impact reporting, compliance, and day-to-day operations.
Molson Coors needed a more robust and intelligent approach: one that could streamline cross-org data migration, preserve data relationships automatically, minimize downtime, and ensure business continuity through reliable data backup and recovery capabilities.
[Anonymization] is a magic feature for us. It allows us to protect client information while seeding data from production to lower orgs. This way, we’re able to test and develop without exposing sensitive data.

Salesforce’s comprehensive data governance tools enable Molson Coors to take a holistic approach to data management—enhancing business continuity, streamlining development, maintaining compliance, and boosting overall system efficiency.
Strengthening data resilience with Backup & Recover and Archive
Ensuring that their data was relevant, reliable, and scalable was a huge priority as they continued to grow. To solve for this, Molson Coors implemented Backup & Recover and Archive to help them navigate any potential disruptions.
Backup & Recover allowed them to back up and restore data automatically in case of unexpected incidents. This empowered the company to maintain data integrity, reduce operational risks, and continue business operations without disruption, even in the face of unexpected data-related incidents.
Adopting Archive then allowed them to manage data storage consumption, improve system performance, and ensure long-term business continuity. With Archive, older, less frequently accessed data could be securely stored and indexed, reducing the load on primary storage and allowing the system to run faster without losing access to historical data when needed. This made data retrieval more efficient, boosted operational agility, and helped ensure seamless day-to-day operations. And it meant that Molson Coors could easily comply with data retention policies and regulatory requirements without bogging down their production environments with stale data.
This reduction in storage usage was a game-changer for Molson Coors, enabling the company to free up space for new data and significantly improve system performance.
Streamlining development and maintaining compliance with Sandboxes and Data Mask & Seed
As Molson Coors’ Salesforce environments grew more complex, with multiple orgs in play, they needed to figure out how to maintain agility, uphold compliance, and ensure data quality throughout the development lifecycle of their apps. To help them scale quickly and securely, the team adopted a multi-sandbox strategy and extended their data governance approach across development and testing environments.
Molson Coors uses Data Mask & Seed to seed realistic test data into any sandbox on demand—reducing development time, ensuring high-fidelity test cases, and protecting sensitive data through anonymization.
“We used to rely on Data Loader, which meant pulling CSVs for each object and uploading one by one,” says Rosemary Smith, Technical Product Manager at Molson Coors. “Now we can manage complex seeding through templates. It’s much faster and more reliable.”
“With Data Seeding, we are able to replicate data within minutes by creating Seed Templates,” says Mamatha. “It saves us the time of creating hierarchical relationships from scratch.”
In addition to the time savings provided by seeding templates, data masking was a critical feature. Molson Coors needed to ensure sensitive data was protected during sandbox seeding, so data masking allowed the team to mask client information before replicating it into lower environments. This ensured compliance with data protection standards and minimized risks during internal development and UAT cycles.
Beyond the efficiency of seeding templates and masking capabilities, the ability to schedule these processes added even more value. The team could now set templates to run automatically on a weekly or monthly basis, ensuring environments stayed current without manual intervention. Automating these repetitive tasks allowed the team to focus on more strategic initiatives. “It’s one less thing for our team to worry about,” Mamatha adds.
After implementing Data Mask & Seed, Molson Coors achieved significant improvements in its data management processes, enabling the team to streamline operations and boost overall business efficiency.
