She really appreciates the balance of contact she\u2019s experienced while she\u2019s been on maternity leave. <\/p>\n\n\n

\u201cI told my team I wanted to be kept in the loop, and I have been, which is reassuring as I\u2019d feel more stressed coming back after having had no contact,\u201d said Aliki. \u201cI expressed what I wanted in terms of contact, and it was respected.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

San explained how she has experienced the Salesforce family culture as the parent of an older teenager (she joined Salesforce when her son was 19).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSometimes I need my quality time with my son, even though he\u2019s older,\u201d explained San, \u201cand I\u2019m allowed to say during the day that I need some family time for an hour. <\/p>\n\n\n
\n\nSalesforce offers great flexibility to mothers with older kids, and it\u2019s flexibility based on trust.<\/p>\nSandra Cools<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n\t\n\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\n\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\n\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\n\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\nIt\u2019s something that parents with kids of all ages can experience; the relaxed culture that greatly values families and family time. \u201cThese values were one of the reasons I joined Salesforce,\u201d said San, \u201cWhile lots of companies say they have these values, at Salesforce they really practice what they preach\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The culture at Salesforce is definitely focused on supporting the workforce, and, in turn, that leads to higher productivity and loyalty. \u201cDuring the height of the pandemic we all kept on target,\u201d explained C\u00e9cile, \u201cSo there was no reason for the company to say \u2018let\u2019s reduce that support\u2019. You know as an employee when it\u2019s time to give more, and when you need to relax. When we needed moments to relax, we had the support to do it, because they knew it would help us to get to the finishing line. <\/p>\n\n\n
\n\nThe support will drive you on and give you the motivation to give that little extra when it\u2019s necessary.<\/p>\nC\u00e9cile Kempeneers<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n\t\n\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\n\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\n\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\n\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\nBecoming part of the Salesforce family and everything that encompasses definitely reflects the old adage that \u2018it takes a tribe\u2019 to raise a child. Salesforce, both locally in Belgium and worldwide, has become that tribe for working moms. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI feel supported not only as a colleague but as a mother,\u201d said San. \u201cEven with a son of 22, you still have questions. Colleagues who are mothers reach out to me and ask how I handled certain things when he was younger, what my solutions were, and what worked for me.<\/p>\n\n\n
\n\nSalesforce is a place to exchange ideas and experiences of being a parent, and I\u2019ve never seen that in another company.<\/p>\nSandra Cools<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n\t\n\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\n\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\n\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\n\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\tSandra (San) Cools with her 22-year-old son<\/i><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\nMaintaining a work-life balance<\/b><\/h2>\n\n\n\n Work-life balance is such an important thing to master, but it\u2019s definitely not always easy, so we asked the working moms what advice they would give to other working parents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt\u2019s on you to say stop,\u201d said C\u00e9cile, \u201cI had to learn that there\u2019s a moment where we say \u201cthis is good enough now\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n
\n\nI had to learn how to prioritise and stop focusing too much on the detail while making sure I\u2019m prioritising the tasks where I\u2019m truly needed.<\/p>\nC\u00e9cile Kempeneers<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n\t\n\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\n\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\n\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\n\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\u201cYou have to find balance,\u201d Aliki agreed, \u201cBefore giving birth I was losing the concept of work\/life balance. It does mean being more flexible yourself, you might have to work after your kid goes to bed. But having the flexibility from management is great\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
San feels honesty and transparency are crucial. \u201cYou can say, I need an hour, my son needs me, and I\u2019m not reachable between 2 and 3. What I\u2019ve learned after 25 years in the same role with different companies is that the job is never done. You have to learn to say stop. Even my son will come and tell me it\u2019s time to stop when it\u2019s late and I\u2019m working in the evening\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\tC\u00e9cile Kempeneers with her daughter<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
