Time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chasing down opportunities, developing relationships, closing deals \u2013 every key sales activity is time-intensive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And yet, as our recent <a adhocenable=\"false\" href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/uk\/form\/pdf\/2016-state-of-sales.jsp?nc=7010M000002MI7Q&amp;d=701300000025Y0X\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">State of Sales report<\/a> revealed, the average salesperson only spends 36% of their time selling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The rest is swallowed by daily admin, service tasks, internal meetings, and a <a adhocenable=\"false\" href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/uk\/blog\/2016\/01\/top-5-sales-team-productivity-killers-and-how-to-fix-them.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">host of other things<\/a> that \u2013 while essential \u2013 aren\u2019t about connecting with clients and prospects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, we asked sales leaders what they do to get the most from every moment, reclaim lost minutes, and maximise productivity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here\u2019s what they told us:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-1-begin-your-day-the-right-way\">1. Begin your day the right way<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Starting your day well? It starts the day before. Getting a decent night\u2019s sleep \u2013 6.5 to 7.5 hours \u2013 is a must. And when your team get up, they should be sure to get moving: research suggests exercising for just 30 minutes during a workday can make you <a adhocenable=\"false\" href=\"http:\/\/insights.wired.com\/profiles\/blogs\/exercise-the-key-to-unlocking-employees-brainpower-and-big#axzz4aqO8EpHL\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">23% more productive<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As the day progresses, regular breaks are crucial. Go mobile<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>72% of high-performing sales reps say being able to perform sales tasks on their phone is critical to their success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you haven\u2019t embraced <a adhocenable=\"false\" href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/uk\/blog\/2017\/03\/the-2-t-that-set-winning-sales-teams-apart.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">mobile selling<\/a>, now is the time. If you have, you can still take steps to ensure reps are maximising every sales moment \u2013 for example, encouraging them to download important documents and maps before they set off to meet a customer, if they may struggle to get reliable connectivity on the road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alternatively, you could make sure you choose a <a adhocenable=\"false\" href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/uk\/solutions\/mobile\/overview\/?d=7010M000002MOCH\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">mobile sales app<\/a> that\u2019s also available offline. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And remember, as <a adhocenable=\"false\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/EngageColleen\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Colleen Francis,<\/a> Owner of Engage Selling Solutions, points out: \u201cA mobile selling environment is far more than putting a smartphone in the hands of every member of your team. It\u2019s about understanding and embracing a completely new way of doing business.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-3-take-control-of-time-wasting-tasks\">3. Take control of time-wasting tasks<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>How long does it take you to send an email? If you don\u2019t know, it may be time to find out \u2013 research shows <a adhocenable=\"false\" href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/uk\/form\/pdf\/2016-state-of-sales.jsp?nc=7010M000002MI7Q&amp;d=701300000025Y0X\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">41% of salespeople spend too much time on admin tasks<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once again, apps can help you and your team, by tracking how long you give to daily activities, so you can see exactly where you\u2019re spending your precious time. You might also want to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Book shorter meetings \u2013 could you cover everything in 25 minutes instead of 30?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Create a strict schedule \u2013 what if you only checked your emails at set times of the day?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Connect your CRM to your email \u2013 how much time do you currently spend switching between applications?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Streamlining sales processes can be a huge help too. According to CEB, 87% of sales leaders are prioritising complexity management, precisely because complexity damages productivity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-4-get-real-time-insights\">4. Get real-time insights<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Time may be a salesperson\u2019s most valuable resource, but data is a close second \u2013 when it\u2019s connected to powerful analytics. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>High-performing salespeople are over 11x more likely than underperformers to rate their team\u2019s analytics capabilities as outstanding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a adhocenable=\"false\" href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/uk\/products\/analytics-cloud\/solutions\/sales-wave\/?d=7010M000002MOCH\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sales analytics<\/a> should be mobile, dashboard-based, and real-time. That way, your sales team can open up your CRM, wherever you are, and instantly see their priorities for the next few hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-5-automate-almost-everything\">5. Automate (almost) everything<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>From ticking off the actions required at each selling stage to sharing your details with a contact \u2013 automate as much of your sales process as you can. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More automation means more time actually spent selling.
