They don&#8217;t just work with technology, but go one step beyond. They marry technology and business goals to help customers see true business impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Account Executives (AE) build customer relationships and focus on sales, while SEs play the important role of helping customers find and understand the right tech solutions for their businesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To understand what they do, we spoke to three Solution Engineers from Salesforce India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Ketan Chaudhari &#8211; Lead Solution Engineer, Commercial Business Unit<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Nivedita Sharma &#8211; Senior Solution Engineer, Commercial Business Unit<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Anirudh Maniath &#8211; Associate Solution Engineer, ESMB<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>One thing we know for sure \u2013 SEs love what they do!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-large-font-size\" id=\"the-passion-that-drives-an-se\"><span>The passion that drives an SE <\/span> <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p> Ask any SE, and they will tell you one of the reasons they love their job is the excitement of doing and learning something new every day. <img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/in\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2023\/06\/chaudhari-quote-2.jpg?strip=all&#038;quality=95\"> They take pride in bridging the gap between where their customers are and where they want to be. <img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/in\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2023\/06\/sharma-quote-1.jpg?strip=all&#038;quality=95\"> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And they love getting to the bottom of things and solving problems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here\u2019s a closer look at a day in the life of a Solution Engineer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-large-font-size\" id=\"a-typical-day-in-the-life-of-an-se-is-never-typical\"><span>A typical day in the life of an SE is never typical <\/span> <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p> On any given day, you can find SEs doing various things \u2013 from learning new skills to meeting prospects. And in between, they spend time researching prospects&#8217; needs, building product demos, giving AEs and implementation partners a download of proposed solutions, speaking at Salesforce events, and more. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-large-font-size\" id=\"how-the-day-begins\"><span>How the day begins <\/span> <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p> The day starts with a call from an AE. A new prospect is looking for the right technology to improve their business performance. SEs are roped in to support a deal once AEs have done the initial prospecting and a deal starts getting hot. <img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/in\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2023\/06\/sharma-quote-2.jpg?strip=all&#038;quality=95\"> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before meeting a prospect, SEs start by studying them. They look for basic information like the prospect\u2019s company size or type, industry, products or services they offer, their target customers and competitors, technologies they are currently using, and if they have been in the news lately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once they know the prospect, they get into rigorous discovery sessions with them to get a deeper understanding of their challenges and growth plans. After identifying the suitable Salesforce solutions that have the potential to address the prospect&#8217;s needs, they get down to building a demo. These demos are often built using mock data, mimicking real-life processes and scenarios from the prospect\u2019s business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> <img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/in\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2023\/06\/maniath-quote-1.jpg?strip=all&#038;quality=95\"> They also seek help from demo engineers to build presentations for complex use cases and solutions. They make the demo presentations as compelling as possible to help prospects realise how it will help them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-large-font-size\" id=\"it-gets-more-exciting-as-the-day-progresses\"><span>It gets more exciting as the day progresses <\/span> <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p> The last two years have been especially exciting for SEs. When consumers moved online, more businesses started turning to technologyto engage and serve their customers better. SEshelped numerous companies transition to remote work. And the most common areas of transformation have been in the sales and service functions. <img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/in\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2023\/06\/maniatht-quote-2.jpg?strip=all&#038;quality=95\"> Some businesses even went for a complete digital transformation, and many small businesses started their digitisation journeys. In all this, SEs took end-to-end responsibility for their customers\u2019 digital transformation efforts \u2013 from personalising tech solutions to guiding implementation partners. <img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/in\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2023\/06\/sharma-quote-3.jpg?strip=all&#038;quality=95\"> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-large-font-size\" id=\"continuing-the-good-work-despite-challenges\"><span>Continuing the good work despite challenges <\/span> <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Solution Engineers also recognised the challenges that came with remote working and tackled them head-on. When selling to businesses, especially big-ticket deals, there is a lot at stake. Communicating the true value of their solutions and convincing prospects to invest in Salesforce is harder when you are not sitting in the same room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But customers showed faith and the will to become resilient. SEs stepped up to help businesses transform holistically through technology &#8211; beyond the simple automation of specific processes. For this, our SEs step into the end users&#8217; shoes and design processes and solutions with an eye on end user experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And besides being experts at what they do, SEs are also strong team players. To stay on top of their game, they consistently hone their skills by completing new Trailhead modules and mastering new product features.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The success of Solution Engineers is tightly tied to their customer\u2019s success. So, any day they can help businesses overcome their challenges and achieve their goals is a successful day for them. They believe if customers understand how the solutions benefit them, sales will happen automatically.
