Today, they recognize the value of AI isn\u2019t just about short-term cost-cutting but also long-term business outcomes like revenue generation, productivity gains, and improved decision-making \u2014 things AI agents are uniquely suited to improve.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe ROI of older technology often depends on immediate, measurable results,\u201d said one CFO survey respondent, \u201cwhile AI\u2019s returns may accrue over the long term through an ongoing process and new business models.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-by-the-numbers\"><strong>By the numbers:<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>More CFOs shift from conservative to aggressive AI strategies&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Five years ago, 70% of CFOs adhered to a conservative AI strategy. As recently as two years ago, that number was 34%.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Now, just 4% of CFOs maintain a conservative AI strategy, and a third have officially adopted an aggressive approach.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>CFOs are dedicating a quarter of their AI budget to agentic AI, and it&#8217;s fundamentally reshaping their spending perspectives.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>As recently as January 2025, CFOs were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cfo.com\/news\/38-of-cfos-remain-undecided-about-ais-cost-versus-risk-ferf-2025-financial-executives-priorities\/738593\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">undecided<\/a> about AI\u2019s cost compared with its risk \u2014 focusing on moderate investments or risks. Now, that has changed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>On average, CFOs report dedicating 25% of their current, total AI budget on AI agents.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>61% of CFOs say AI agents\/digital labor is critical, and will continue to be critical, to compete in the current economic environment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>64% of CFOs say AI agents\/digital labor is changing their perspective on how their business spends money.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Over a third (35%) say AI requires them to have a riskier mindset around technology investments.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>CFOs report AI agents both reduce costs and boost revenue by taking on routine and strategic tasks.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>74% of CFOs believe that AI agents will not only cut
