Salesforce: Business can be a Platform for Change to donate $1m to support workforce development initiatives in Germany

Salesforce and (RED) join forces to bring the fight against AIDS to CEBIT

MUNICH / HANNOVER – 11th June, 2018 –, the philanthropic arm of Salesforce, today announced it will donate $1m to future workforce programs in Germany to ensure that a diverse workforce is empowered with the skills needed for the tech jobs of today and tomorrow. In addition, Salesforce announced that it will be joined at CEBIT by campaigning organisation (RED) to rally the global technology audience around the fight to end AIDS.

The announcement was made at CEBIT ahead of the Salesforce Equality keynote “Business as a Platform for Change,” which will be led by Tony Prophet, Chief Equality Officer at Salesforce and will take place on June 12th at 2.15pm CEST on the Salesforce d!talk main stage in hall 9. $1m investment in workforce development

Salesforce and are committed to investing in young people from the classroom to the boardroom. The company’s Future Ready program works closely with schools to provide the best learning environment for students in their communities; promote STEM education, especially for girls and students from underrepresented populations; and help young adults build the skills and experience to enter the professional workforce, especially in tech careers. will donate $1m to support digital education and workforce development initiatives in Germany. Benefitting programs include:, Joblinge, ReDI Digital School of Integration and SchlaU Schule each receiving $250,000.

  • empowers individuals through digital education. The grant will be used to train 1,000 socially disadvantaged youth as software developers and place them in jobs.

  • Joblinge provides disadvantaged, unemployed youth with the opportunity to earn a long term placement in an apprenticeship or job. The grant will be used to enhance JOBLINGE’s course offerings by including digital skills training and placement into Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) apprenticeships.

  • ReDI Digital School of Integration aim is to provide underrepresented students with relevant technology industry skills and a strong network of tech mentors. The grant will support the development of tech-related curriculum for newcomers supporting their integration and helping prepare talent for jobs in the tech sector.

  • SchlaU Schule supports young refugees who have arrived in Germany to participate in education and society. The grant will support refugee students with education and ICT skills, minimizing the digital divide, so they have an opportunity to be successful in the jobs of the future.

Salesforce and (RED) bring the AIDS fight to CEBIT

Deborah Dugan, CEO, (RED) and Connie Mudenda, (RED) Ambassador and AIDS activist, will present at CEBIT’s opening reception on the eve of the show, and will also join the Salesforce Equality keynote with Tony Prophet, Chief Equality Officer at Salesforce, to discuss the topic of “Business as a Platform for Change”.

(RED) is a non-profit organization founded by Bono and Bobby Shriver in 2006. It partners with the world’s most iconic brands that contribute proceeds from (RED)-branded goods and experiences to the Global Fund, which fights AIDS in Africa. Fully 100% of the money (RED) raises goes to work on the ground – no overhead is taken.

Salesforce announced a 5-year strategic partnership with (RED) at the World Economic Forum in December 2016. Following Salesforce’s model of integrated corporate philanthropy, the company has committed funding, employee time and technology resources to accelerate the goal of ending AIDS.

As part of this multi-year partnership, (RED) and Salesforce jointly participate in major events. As a premium partner of CEBIT, Salesforce is an official point of sale for event tickets and will contribute €5 per ticket sold directly to the Global Fund to fight AIDS. Funds will also be raised through the sale of co-branded merchandise which will be available at a pop-up store on the Salesforce Park and from direct donations throughout the week of CeBIT.

Since its founding in 2006, (RED) has generated more than $500 million for the Global Fund, impacting the lives of 110 million people in sub-Saharan Africa with prevention, treatment, counseling, HIV testing and care services.
