Marketing Cloud, Trailhead...
J.Crew, an internationally recognized retailer of more than 35 years, partnered with Salesforce this holiday season to create a modern ecommerce experience to power the massive scale that the brand sees globally during the holiday retail peak.
For flagship J.Crew and Factory brand ecommerce sites, J.Crew launched a headless experience, which enabled the brands to withstand demand spikes more than four times what the legacy architecture could have handled. What started as a project to simply migrate from their former provider turned into much more, when J.Crew discovered Salesforce’s capacity to significantly improve scale and more seamlessly integrate a modern, agile architecture.
“J.Crew is renowned for delivering timeless classics with a look-forward twist, and we take that same approach to our technology framework. We want to leverage the elements of our infrastructure that work well for us, while integrating innovative technologies that enable much more friendly and progressive experiences,” said Michelle Garvey, CIO, J.Crew. “Integrating the state-of-the-art API-based ecommerce platform enabled us to manage the incredible uptick in peak demand of global transactions that was crucial this holiday season.”
Key functionality that drove success this holiday season included:
- Salesforce Commerce Cloud – Leveraging Commerce Cloud’s complete set of platform services, J.Crew was able to integrate an API-led, headless storefront and existing back end into a state of the art, fluidly scalable shopping experience. With APIs for Shopping Cart, Checkout and Promotions, J.Crew was able to power critical components of the shopper journey — enabling customers to quickly add items to their shopping cart, easily manage the checkout process and add any relevant promotions to their order.
- Commerce Cloud Developer Tools – J.Crew’s digital and technology teams jumpstarted their headless commerce project with efficient developer tools that provided the flexibility and agility required for modern technology operations.
“At Salesforce, we are proud to partner with companies like J. Crew, who reach customers across regions, and demand tremendous scale,” said Mike Micucci, CEO, Salesforce Commerce Cloud. “Our flexible commerce platform provides headless capabilities, which empowers the delivery of unique experiences and is built to scale rapidly for the holiday and beyond.”
