Marc Benioff and Trailblazer Juan Medina on Whether College Degrees are Necessary to Land the Jobs of the Future

Marc Benioff and journalist Stephanie Ruhle

Salesforce Chair and CEO Marc Benioff is featured in a new segment from NBC Nightly News on whether college degrees are truly required to succeed in today’s job market. Benioff appears alongside Trailblazer and Salesforce Admin Juan Medina, who leveraged Trailhead, Salesforce’s free online learning platform, and Salesforce’s Pathfinder program to develop skills that got him hired.

Medina hails from Colombia, and had been supporting his family working in construction and car sales  when he began his learning journey with Salesforce. “I came to this country with a lot of aspirations,” he said. “If I went part-time, it would take me 8 years to finish college.”

“Everybody thinks that if you don’t have a college degree, you can’t be successful in the United States and it’s not true,” Benioff said. “You can create incredible value for the world without a college degree.”
