For the sixth year in a row, Harvard Business Review has recognized Salesforce Chairman and co-CEO Marc Benioff on its Best Performing CEOs in the World list. Benioff is ranked #2 on the list, up from #6 last year.
“Since 2015 our ranking has been based not only on financial performance but also on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) ratings,” reports Harvard Business Review. “For the past four years we’ve weighted ESG scores to account for 20% of each CEO’s final ranking. This year we tweaked the formula, increasing that share to 30%.” Benioff is known for his dedicated commitment to environmental, social and governance issues.
Other technology CEOs recognized on this year’s list include Jensen Huang, NVIDIA (#1); Satya Nadella, Microsoft (#9); and Tim Cook, Apple (#62).
Benioff’s new book, Trailblazer: The Power of Business as the Greatest Platform for Change, is now available in-store and online. In it, Benioff delivers a vision for the need for a new kind of capitalism, one where businesses and executives value purpose alongside profit. Find out more here.
