In this role, Paula will head the new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/company\/ethical-and-humane-use\/\">Office of Ethical and Humane Use<\/a> to develop a strategic framework for the ethical and humane use of technology across Salesforce. Paula will officially start on January 7, 2019, reporting to Tony Prophet, Chief Equality Officer.<br> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Paula joins Salesforce from Omidyar Network, a social impact investment firm established by eBay founder Pierre Omidyar, where she most recently served as Vice President, Global Lead, Tech and Society Solutions Lab. Prior to this role, Paula served as the global lead for impact investing, where she created and led Omidyar Network\u2019s global efforts to build the impact investing movement through its investment portfolio, industry partnerships, and thought leadership.<br> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Paula has a strong record in technology for social good, with a focus on helping companies build ethical technology. She also served on Salesforce&#8217;s Advisory Council for the Office of Ethical and Humane Use.<br> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;For years, I&#8217;ve admired Salesforce as a leader in ethical business,\u201d said Goldman. \u201cWe&#8217;re at an important inflection point as an industry, and I&#8217;m excited to work with this team to chart a path forward.&#8221;<br> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWorking with Paula as a member of the Advisory Council, I was immediately impressed by her exceptional leadership and thoughtful approach to truly complex issues,\u201d said Tony Prophet, Salesforce Chief Equality Officer. \u201cI&#8217;m confident Paula is the right person to lead us into this next chapter at Salesforce. This is only the beginning, but I&#8217;m excited for what&#8217;s ahead.\u201d<br> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Paula has extensive entrepreneurial experience managing frontier market businesses, ranging from managing an affordable private school in rural India to a micro-enterprise syndicate in post-war Bosnia. As founder and director of Imagining Ourselves, a project of the International Museum of Women, she led the creation of one of the world\u2019s first online museums. Paula\u2019s work was recognized with the Social Impact Award from the Anita Borg Institute for Women and Technology and a Muse Award from the American Association of Museums.<br> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Paula earned a Ph.D. from Harvard University, where did a dissertation on how unorthodox ideas become mainstream.
