The U.K. is competing more directly than ever in the technology space, and investment in this sector is now more essential than ever. Against this backdrop, British Prime Minister Theresa May welcomed a refreshed commitment from Salesforce, which has promised $2.5 billion for investment in the economy over the next five years<\/a>. <\/p>

As part of this investment, Salesforce plans to hire 900 new employees in the region, increase datacenter capacity and expand office space to support its rapidly growing customer base in the U.K. The commitment was made as Simon Mulcahy, Salesforce\u2019s Chief Marketing Officer, joined other leading global tech leaders at the Prime Minister\u2019s Tech Investment Roundtable hosted at 10 Downing Street.<\/p>

The Roundtable offered Mulcahy an opportunity to share with May and other ministers how Salesforce\u2019s investment enables the company to further support its growing ecosystem of suppliers, partners and local communities as well as its customer base of the U.K.’s most innovative companies . Roundtable attendees discussed how the public and private sector can work together to ensure that the U.K. continues to attract top tech talent.<\/p>

\u201cSalesforce offers a wonderful example of the benefits a successful technology company can bring to the U.K. economy, and I welcome their continued investment which will create interesting and high-skilled jobs for our workforce,\u201d May said. \u201cThe U.K. is already home to some of the world\u2019s most innovative technology companies, and we will continue to drive investment in the sector through our modern industrial strategy.\u201d<\/p>

Financial investment alone won\u2019t ensure that the U.K. maintains its tech leadership<\/a> position, and aside from the monetary investment, Salesforce remains committed<\/a> to focusing on driving equality and diversity within the industry. Truly innovative businesses need people from multiple disciplines and different backgrounds to solve problems in the most creative and successful ways. With a focus on social innovation, Salesforce proudly supports nonprofit organisations that drive tech skills in young people from a wide range of backgrounds, including: iDEA, STEMettes, and East London’s School 21 \u2013 offering time, technology and resources as part of an ongoing commitment to giving back in the UK.<\/p>

This investment follows the opening of Salesforce’s first European Salesforce Innovation Centre in Salesforce Tower London<\/a> last month. The Salesforce Innovation Centre offers an immersive environment where companies can understand how to drive the digital transformation required to connect with customers in new and intelligent ways by leveraging cloud, social, mobile, AI and connected products with IoT.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
