One of the ways we keep learning is to keep asking questions \u2014 which we do through global studies of the markets we serve \u2014 then analyzing and sharing our findings. <\/p><p>In 2019, our research team surveyed more than 33,000 individuals worldwide. We posed questions to a wide range of roles \u2014 consumers, IT leaders, small business owners, you name it. In reflecting back on the year, we wanted to recap what we learned.<\/p><p>Here are our top insights from the year based on our 2019 research. [<a href=\"https:\/\/ctt.ec\/90OJx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Click to Tweet<\/a>]<\/p><p><b>One extraordinary experience raises the bar for all companies. <\/b><\/p><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/blog\/2019\/06\/customer-engagement-trends.html\">A survey<\/a> of 8,000 consumers and business buyers revealed just how much customer experience matters. In fact, 73% say one extraordinary experience raises their expectations of other companies. But 74% have the same expectations for <i>existing<\/i> technology, too. In other words, it\u2019s not just about having the latest and greatest tech, but about bringing technologies together for an intelligent, personalized experience. To borrow from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/company\/news-press\/stories\/2019\/11\/Customer-360-Patrick-Stokes\/\">Patrick Stokes<\/a>, Salesforce Executive Vice President of Platform Shared Services, when you have a 360-degree view of the customer, you have the foundation for creating amazing customer experiences and building trusted relationships.<\/p><p><b>Consumers see a higher calling for businesses. <\/b><\/p><p>Society as we know it is at a critical inflection point on issues of equality, trust, and sustainability. In this changing atmosphere, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/contents\/ethical-leadership-research\/\">many eyes<\/a> are turning toward businesses to serve a variety of stakeholders that includes, but not solely, their shareholders. Increasingly, service leaders are ingraining their work across the full customer lifecycle, embracing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/blog\/2019\/04\/what-is-a-chatbot.html\">chatbots<\/a>, self-service, and digital channels, and investing in field service capabilities that bring agents to the customers. Customer service work is increasingly complex \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/form\/service-cloud\/3rd-state-of-service\">71% of agents<\/a> say their work is more strategic than two years ago \u2014 and their management ranks improved workforce skills as the number-one priority.<\/p><p><b>IT leaders are challenged to ingrain AI in their businesses. <br \/> <\/b>Artificial intelligence (AI) is unleashing new standards of engagement, business processes, and innovation. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/form\/platform\/enterprise-technology-trends\/\">Sixty-four percent of IT leaders<\/a> are actively looking for ways to use AI, and its adoption in enterprises is forecast to soar by 95% within two years.
