Founded in 1999, Salesforce enables companies of every size and industry to digitally transform around their customers by harnessing the power of automation, artificial intelligence, and real-time data to make every customer experience more personal, valuable and memorable. With a global community driven by shared core values, Salesforce is more than a business \u2013 it\u2019s a platform for change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1999<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In February, the Salesforce journey begins with a clear vision to be \u201cA World-Class Internet Company for Sales Force Automation.\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>On March 8, Salesforce incorporates and Marc Benioff, Parker Harris, Frank Dominguez, and Dave Moellenhoff begin working on the first version of Salesforce\u2019s CRM. Their base is a rented one-bedroom apartment at 1449 Montgomery Street, on San Francisco\u2019s Telegraph Hill.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>As the four develop their prototype, they also build a distinctive startup culture. They only work on what they believe is important and necessary, to do it \u201cfast, simple, and right the first time.\u201d \u201cNo fluff\u201d is&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/blog\/2019\/02\/salesforce-san-francisco-1999.html\">their mantra<\/a>. They wear Hawaiian print shirts, brunch at&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mamas-sf.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Mama\u2019s<\/a>, appoint Marc\u2019s dog Koa as Chief Love Officer, and constantly ask for feedback.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The company also writes its first&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/blog\/2013\/04\/how-to-create-alignment-within-your-company.html\">V2MOM<\/a>&nbsp;(Vision, Values, Methods, Obstacles, and Measures) strategic plan, aiming to provide employees with a clear vision and align the organization around common goals. In true startup fashion, the original draft is written on the back of an envelope. The \u201cprotestors\u201d carry signs with anti-software messages to drive home Salesforce\u2019s \u201cThe End of Software\u201d marketing tagline.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Salesforce.org launches the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.org\/pledge-1\/\">&nbsp;1-1-1 model<\/a>, leveraging its technology, people, and resources to improve communities around the world.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In November, the growing business moves from the Rincon Center to a larger base at One Market Street.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Revenue hits $5.4 million for fiscal year ending January 31, 2001.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<div making it the fastest-growing CRM company.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In November, Benioff is named Chief Executive Officer and Chairman.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Salesforce delivers $22.4 million in revenue for the fiscal year, ending January 31, 2002.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2002<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>By end of the year, the company has 5,740 customers, 70,000 users in 107 countries accessing the service in multiple currencies and eight languages.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Salesforce delivers $51 million in revenue for the fiscal year, ending January 31, 2003.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Marc Benioff makes a prediction about the future of Salesforce, CRM, and business: &#8220;There were the leaders, but Oracle displaced them. The same thing is going to happen again. It\u2019s the beginning of a brand new technology and business world.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2003<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The first&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/dreamforce\/\">Dreamforce<\/a>&nbsp;event is held at the Westin St. Francis hotel in downtown San Francisco. Just over 1,000 registered attendees take part in the event, which has 52 presentations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>sForce 2.0 \u2014 the industry\u2019s first on-demand application service \u2014 is launched at the event.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The company\u2019s employees number more than 400.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It establishes a global presence, opening offices in Australia, France, Germany, Ireland, Japan, Spain, and the U.K.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Salesforce reaches almost $100 million in revenue by year end, files to go public in December.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image unique users.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The company surpasses 1,300 employees by end of fiscal year.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It has earned $309.98 million in revenue for fiscal year ending January 31,
