For the latest news on Salesforce\u2019s sustainability efforts, check out <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/news\/topics\/sustainability\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">this page.<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In line with the key initiatives laid out by COP26 \u2014 <em>mitigation, adaptation, finance, and collaboration <\/em>&nbsp;\u2014 Salesforce is on an accelerated mission to support one of its largest stakeholders, the planet itself.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Salesforce is a Net Zero company, and just last week, Marc and Lynne Benioff and Salesforce <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/news\/press-releases\/2021\/10\/28\/marc-and-lynne-benioff-and-salesforce-announce-investment-to-accelerate-ecosystem-restoration-and-climate-justice\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">announced<\/a> a $300 million investment to accelerate ecosystem restoration and climate justice.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Salesforce has been on its sustainability transformation journey for over a decade, and has long been committed to setting ambitious climate targets and supporting cutting edge public policy to drive climate action. Climate is a key part of Salesforce\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/news\/stories\/climate-policy-platform\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">public policy platform<\/a>, and the company is committed to actively advocating for clear and consistent science-based climate policies that facilitate a just and equitable global transition to a 1.5\u00b0C future.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a COP26 partner, Salesforce will advocate for the conference\u2019s key initiatives with insights and momentum gleaned from its own sustainability journey:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-mitigation-secure-global-net-zero-by-2050-and-keep-1-5-c-future-within-reach\"><a href=\"https:\/\/ukcop26.org\/cop26-goals\/mitigation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Mitigation<\/a> \u2014 Secure global Net Zero by 2050 and keep 1.5\u00b0C future within reach:&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Salesforce has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/news\/press-releases\/2021\/09\/21\/salesforce-achieves-net-zero-across-its-full-value-chain\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">achieved <strong>Net Zero<\/strong> across its full value chain<\/a> and has achieved 100% renewable energy for its operations. Salesforce developed emissions reductions strategies across Scope 1, 2, and 3, and has set a goal to reduce its scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions 50% by 2030 and near-zero by 2040.<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/news\/press-releases\/2021\/09\/21\/salesforce-achieves-net-zero-across-its-full-value-chain\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Salesforce Sustainability Cloud 2.0<\/strong><\/a> was announced to help customers track and reduce emissions and take action through a full view of their environmental footprint with investor-grade data for customizable ESG reporting. When Sustainability Cloud was first introduced in 2019, Salesforce used to tool to cut its carbon accounting process from move than six months to just six weeks.<\/li><li>Salesforce has implemented a<a href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/news\/stories\/salesforce-urges-suppliers-to-reduce-carbon-emissions-adds-climate-to-contracts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> <strong>Sustainability Exhibit<\/strong><\/a><strong> <\/strong>as part of all standard procurement contracts with suppliers, requiring them to set science-based targets to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and deliver products and services on a carbon-neutral basis.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/ukcop26.org\/cop26-goals\/adaptation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Adaptation<\/a> \u2014 Adapt to protect communities and natural habitats:&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Salesforce is a founding partner of <a href=\"http:\/\/1t.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>1T.org<\/strong><\/a>, and committed to its own goal of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/company\/news-press\/stories\/2020\/1\/salesforce-tom-crowther\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">100 million trees<\/a> by the end of 2030. This year, the company met a critical milestone of 40 million trees funded in just two years since the goal was announced. &nbsp;<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/news\/stories\/salesforce-accelerates-commitment-to-trees-oceans-and-youth-programs-to-fight-climate-change\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Salesforce announced<\/a> <strong>two new, natural climate solutions<\/strong>: a global tree equity and urban reforestation initiative in partnership with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.americanforests.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">American Forests<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/onetreeplanted.org\/products\/plant-trees?gclid=Cj0KCQjwt-6LBhDlARIsAIPRQcLJWS0uQlJE3YDuZrGAT_CZtAFTi1Z9cMKBQyWIZLJu3scnCWKHbOMaAvhOEALw_wcB\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">One Tree Planted<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sugiproject.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">SUGi<\/a>; and a blue carbon program to protect and restore oceans and coastal ecosystems.<\/li><li>Salesforce has implemented <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/news\/press-releases\/2018\/01\/11\/salesforce-announces-innovative-water-recycling-system-for-salesforce-tower\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">a <strong>Blackwater water recycling system<\/strong><\/a> in San Francisco\u2019s Salesforce Tower. The first of its kind in San Francisco, the system saves 7.8 million gallons of drinking water annually.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/ukcop26.org\/cop26-goals\/finance\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Finance<\/a> \u2014 Developed countries must keep to their promises in mobilizing at least $100 billion in climate finance per year by 2020:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Salesforce announced the issuance of an inaugural <a href=\"https:\/\/investor.salesforce.com\/press-releases\/press-release-details\/2021\/Salesforce-Announces-Issuance-of-Inaugural-Sustainability-Bond\/default.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>$1 billion sustainability bond<\/strong><\/a> \u2014 the first sustainability bond by a software company \u2014 to support investments in innovative projects that address global climate, equality, and other social challenges.<\/li><li>Salesforce<a href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/news\/stories\/new-public-private-coalition-launched-to-mobilize-more-than-1-billion-to-protect-tropical-forests-and-enhance-global-climate-action\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> joined<\/a> the governments of Norway, the UK, the United States and leading companies including Amazon, Airbnb, Nestl\u00e9, Unilever and others, as a founding partner of the<a href=\"http:\/\/leafcoalition.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> <strong>LEAF Coalition<\/strong><\/a>, a new public-private coalition with the goal of mobilizing at least $1 billion in 2021 to protect tropical forests around the world.<\/li><li>Salesforce called for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/news\/stories\/salesforce-call-for-mandatory-climate-disclosures\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>mandatory climate disclosures<\/strong><\/a>, stating that companies should be required to publicly disclose independent third-party-reviewed emissions information, covering Scopes 1, 2, and 3 as well as emission reduction goals, and there must be a globally recognized and formally governed reporting standard. In addition, Salesforce released its first-ever <strong>Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures<\/strong> (TCFD) report, which supplements its annual<a href=\"http:\/\/salesforce.com\/stakeholder-impact-report\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> Stakeholder Impact Report<\/a>.<\/li><li>Salesforce Ventures launched its second $100 million<a href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/news\/press-releases\/2020\/10\/06\/salesforce-ventures-launches-second-100-million-impact-fund\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> <strong>Impact Fund<\/strong><\/a> to accelerate the growth of cloud companies addressing some of today\u2019s most pressing needs, including climate action.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/ukcop26.org\/cop26-goals\/collaboration\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Collaboration<\/a> \u2014 We can only rise to the challenges of the climate crisis by working together:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Salesforce co-founded <strong>UpLink<\/strong>, an open-source digital platform to foster mass participation from entrepreneurs around the world to meet the UN\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/sdgs.un.org\/goals\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sustainable Development Goals<\/a>. This year\u2019s UpLink Trillion Trees Challenge, co-designed with <a href=\"http:\/\/1t.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">1T.org<\/a>, was a global call for solutions to help meet the goal of conserving, restoring and growing a trillion trees over the next decade.<\/li><li>Through <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.org\/impactlabs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Impact Labs<\/strong><\/a>, Salesforce is convening leading nonprofits and others across government, academia, and for-profit sectors to accelerate innovation and create new technology solutions that will contribute to a more sustainable future for all.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Salesforce, along with other corporates and environmental organizations, founded <a href=\"http:\/\/scalingclimatesolutions.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Business Alliance to Scale Climate Solutions<\/strong><\/a> to help improve and scale corporate climate solutions funding.<\/li><li>Salesforce actively engages its 10K+ member employee resource group, <strong>Earthforce,<\/strong> dedicated to promoting and celebrating environmental responsibility at the company.
