Employees aren\u2019t just encouraged and given the time to vote \u2014 they are empowered to participate in all aspects of the democratic process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This includes volunteering at the polls. In honor of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eac.gov\/help-america-vote#:~:text=The%20U.S.%20Election%20Assistance%20Commission%20(EAC)%20has%20designated%20August%2016,in%20communities%20across%20the%20country\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Help America Vote and National Poll Worker Recruitment Day<\/a>, which takes place Tuesday, August 16, Salesforce is renewing its call to employees to sign up to serve as poll workers in their communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Why it\u2019s important: <\/strong>Properly-staffed polling centers are one of the best ways to help ensure free and fair elections. With poll worker shortages <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fairelectionscenter.org\/post\/power-the-polls-returns-to-recruit-new-wave-of-poll-workers-ahead-of-primary-midterm-elections\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">being reported in multiple states<\/a>, Salesforce believes it is critical to support non-partisan efforts to \u201cPower the Polls.\u201d This year, Salesforce is encouraging employees through its active Equality Groups to continue to volunteer and drive support for the polls.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Salesforce perspective:<\/strong><strong> <\/strong>In 2020, more than 700 Salesforce employees signed up to serve as poll workers, including Aaron Litwin.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>\u201cVolunteering as a poll worker not only allowed me to be part of the democratic process, but it also reinforced the impact volunteers can have on our neighbors\u2019 ability to cast their votes,\u201d said Litwin, Senior Manager, Global Safety &amp; Security. \u201cI was able to help my community in a direct way by making it possible for each of them to have their voice heard &#8211; especially during the pandemic.\u201d&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Taking action:<\/strong> Encouraging employees to help at the polls is just one part of Salesforce\u2019s robust <a href=\"https:\/\/uploads-ssl.webflow.com\/61c9ee916e87ed0234518bce\/6205a6bca8ae34453c01fe5c_CivicAlliance_%20Corporate%20Civic%20Playbook_2_10.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">civic engagement playbook<\/a>. Other important initiatives include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Educational resources: <\/strong>From a <a href=\"https:\/\/trailhead.salesforce.com\/en\/content\/learn\/modules\/civic-engagement-in-the-united-states-public\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Civic Engagement Trailhead module<\/a> to an ongoing speaker series featuring discussions on candidates, voting, and related issues, Salesforce provides employees with various methods to stay informed.&nbsp;<\/li><li><strong>Advocacy for access:<\/strong> Salesforce also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/news\/stories\/salesforce-pushes-for-voting-rights-police-reform-and-criminal-justice-reform-donates-1-5m-for-voting-access\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">supports organizations<\/a> that are focused on creating a more inclusive democracy, such as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aclu.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ACLU Foundation<\/a>, which aims to restore the voting rights of those who are disenfranchised and make voting as convenient as possible.&nbsp;<\/li><li><strong>Voter registration: <\/strong>Salesforce partners with <a href=\"https:\/\/salesforce.turbovote.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TurboVote<\/a> so employees can easily register to vote and make a plan to cast their ballots using <a href=\"https:\/\/howto.vote\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">howto.vote<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What they\u2019re saying:<\/strong> Salesforce nonprofit partners support the company\u2019s efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>\u201cBy actively supporting democracy and encouraging employees to use their civic voices, businesses can demonstrate their commitment to inclusion, deepen employee connection, increase customer loyalty, and support local communities,\u201d said Anjelica Smith, Program Director of Voter Engagement at Democracy Works, co-founding organization of the Civic Alliance. \u201cWe are proud to have Salesforce as an exemplary Civic Alliance member, showcasing that empowering employees to participate in the democratic process is a clear and practical blueprint for how companies can be civically engaged in a constructive, non-partisan way.\u201d<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The big picture: <\/strong>Voter turnout in the United States has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fairvote.org\/voter_turnout#voter_turnout_101\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">fluctuated<\/a> in recent decades.
