Beyond managing business units, teams, and projects, managers now also need far more sociological skills \u2014 ones that might be more associated with a therapist or a life coach than a corporate boss.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Salesforce\u2019s Head of Global Talent Experience, Elizabeth Gaito agrees. \u201cI\u2019ve been in this field for the last 20 years and <strong>it&#8217;s changed more in the last two years than it did in the first 18. <\/strong>The role of the manager has fundamentally changed since the pandemic. Just months into his time as a Business Development Rep on Romas-Cowell\u2019s team, his grandmother passed away, leaving Triplett struggling with work.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Eventually, he explored the idea of taking a leave of absence, which he says Romas-Cowell, \u201cfully supported and guided me through.\u201d In fact, he didn\u2019t even know that leave was an option until Romas-Cowell suggested it.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Triplett took the leave of absence from June through October of 2021, and the time away was critical. As he worked through his grief, he also received an important diagnosis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDuring my leave of absence, I was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder,\u201d Triplett says, adding that he \u201cwas fortunate to have time away to prioritize the beginning of what would be a new way of life for me.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Taking the time away is one thing, but returning can often be challenging without the right manager in place. When he was ready to return, Triplett felt at ease thanks to Romas-Cowell\u2019s ability to get him back into the flow of work at a speed and volume he felt comfortable with. In fact, he was more than comfortable \u2013 he was set up to succeed and thrive.<br><br>\u201cWith her guidance on balance, prioritizing mental health, and SMART goals, I was able to return from my
